i have a standard original nova gte mint seats everything but the engine is goosed .
is there more value in
1.keep standard
2.put a redtop in which i have to go iam stuck on what to do

to be fair im not going to be selling it just for myself to use full history in the little pocket in the kickwell .

if i dont put the redtop whats it worth with gearbox ecu and loom ,also have a digi dash that will be for sale as i like the orig clocks

It's not goosed then, it's just poorly.

Standard is the way forward, plus less hastle than doing an engine swap.

If it is a near mint example then it will be worth a lot more with the standard engine.

But if you are keeping the car, it is your car so put whatever engine you want in...

buy a cheap nova and stick redtop init , but myself i wouldnt redtop a good GTE

I think it's getting to the kind of point with these cars that if you have a decent standard model, you should keep it that way, as they're starting to fetch silly money already, if you were to change it you may well regret it in a few years time if you come to sell.

id say if the engine was gone go for the cheaper option but if its only the head gasket as said fix that and im sure someone will buy the xe off you in no time esspecially around here we have NO early xe's lol then carb the 1.6 :P

Ebay should get you the best return tbh, Vauxhall nuts in the know want them for peanuts nowadays as anyone wanting to use it hard would do well to rebuild it anyway.
