Well I mentioned that I'd start a thread with my plans for this year and here it is.
I've been extremely fortunate and have been given the opportunity of a drive in the VAG trophy. My good friend Colin Hays (the 'H' in DH developments) has built a Mk2 Golf GTI race car and is letting me use it for the entire championship. He'll also be competing in his other black Mk2 Race car, although hopefully not in the same class! The first race is on the weekend of the 22/23 May, with a couple of days testing planned prior to that at Silverstone and Combe.
The car I'll be using is a relatively low spec white Mk2 16v, with the control camshaft fitted, H&R coilovers, stripped out, plumbed-in extinguisher, single-seat, cage etc.
Colin will be driving the black Mk2 that he has previously raced in at the Nurburgring. It is fitted with a high spec 16v lump, with throttle bodies and fully specced internals, 6spd Quaife box, wilwood 4-pots, bias pedal box, bespoke AVO remote reservoir dampers etc etc.
Then towards the end of the season we will be competing in the Britcar 24hr race at Silverstone using the black Mk2.
Now all I need to do is get my race licence and romper suit!
