does anybody know if a 1.6 cav mk2 carb and dizzy/head if needed, will fit on a 1.6 spi engine from a mk3 astra.

No mate the mk2 cav is a big block engine. Try get one from a mk3 iirc they did a 1.6 carb engine in the early ones.

No mate as the inlet ports are a different shape it would fit but wouldnt run right and it would prob under fuel it too.

if i changed the whole head from the 1.4 would that make any difference, if it would work i can get one from a friend and get rid of the stupid ecu lol

just going to try the 1.4 head,carb,dizzy and coil and see how well it works, its free anyway + my heads probably ****ed as a rocker snapped.

the heads are different mate the cylinder wells are deeper on a 1.6 so it would keep popping the headgasket with a 1.4 head on i would have thought.

not good then lol in all fairness its just got to last till next year, when i will be putting a 2.0l 8v in

youll need big block bits to go with big block bits and vice-versa for small block.

in the nova era of vauxhall OHC engines, anything upto 1.6 is classed as smallblock, and anything over is bigblock (due to block/head dimensions) they wont bolt together unless of the same size. with the exeption of a few engines and your early cavalier engine that was actually bigblock.

hope that makes the smallblock/bigblock compatabilty thing more sense for ya :thumb:

id reccomend slapping a complete 1.2 engine in there for now, till u can sort out this 2.0
