It should say '16v' on the back of it and if you pop the bonnet it will have two cam pulleys or a wide cambelt cover!

By the age of the car and if it has a 16v badge on the back. I dont think there are any other noticeable differences on the outside. :confused:

Knowing nothing about these engines, I'm gonna stick my neck out and suggest a cheeky peek underneath, check for bottom pulley maybe?

True, a xe pully has 6 bolts, eco only has 4 iirc.

Also the eco has a ****e cast exhaust manifold, and a seperate downpipe setup, whereas xe has a "proper" 4-2-1 exhaust manifold. Should be able spot that from under the front bumper :thumb:

Sweet. There's your answer then. Have a quick stoop down and check the manifold.

Jeasus I must be the really sad one cos I know:cool:

The exhausts are all different,

in original spec it goes like this;

2.0 8v single tailpiece
2.0 16v two square tailpipes like a gte 16v astra
2.0 16v TURBO two square tailpipes with round inserts inside

this was correct in the 90,s................could be crap now tho:d
