Yeah was at court the day and got 6 points and a £300 fine.
Not too happy about it as they charged me with no insurance when it was clear I had insurance police are really cracking down up my way.
This charge happened when I had my Saxo vtr. They were doing me for no insurance, fog lights and a defective exhaust. Well the exhaust was an aftermarket one which was meant to be rippy and the fog lights well I actually didn't have a clue they were on. Insurance I did have as I got the insurance about a week before the incident. Insurance company wouldn't give me my documents so not happy at them.
But anyway guys just watch yourself on the roads the police are really cracking down now just beware and be safe
What is it with everyone going court today and getting points lol
sorry to hear btw

Hard to belive you had insurance... the police would carry out a PNC check, that would be conclusive to wheather you had insurance or not. my guess is you didnt....

Unlucky :( Ive been driving for 4 years now and only just got my first points the other day.
£60 fine and 3 points for doing 88mph in a 70mph. Never even knew they were there and carried on to..... well last time i looked at my clock it was 120mph. I was very very lucky to still have my licence, its slowed me rite down and made me realise it isnt big or clever doing silly speeds on a public road.
lol
i had insurance but no documents ? why wouldnt the insurance company send you documents (unless you owed them money) if you did have insurance you wouldnt have got points tho ? no wonder the police pick on motorists, from what i can tell they seem easy targets and just roll over and take a shafting
A physical insurance certificate is pretty much superflous these days, as they can check on the MID if you have current cover. If the car doesn't show up, they will telephone the insco who will verbally confirm whether a valid insurance policy is in place. Plus, as insurance cannot be backdated, as soon as you get/got the docs from the insco you could get the convition quashed as the start date on the cert would confirm you did indeed have insurance at the time of incident.
Thats assuming you were innocent of course. Methinks there's more to that conviction, otherwise you'd have had lawyers falling over themselves to take on that case.

Well I had insurance Simon. And If I didn't have any insurance I wouldn't drive my car I ain't that stupid.why is people so negative on here? I had insurance I never owed them money and I think it's clear that really no one on here is rather friendly. Not bringing down anyone who is.

Soooooo where are your insurance dox? did you pay the deposit or full premium? you can prove this with a bank statement) why are the company withholding the dox if the policy exists and is paid for? why did you accept the points and fine if you were driving legally?
If the insco really are withholding your dox please post who they are so we can all avoid them.

Before December I would have agreed entirely with that statement however, the following is included on my renewal documents from HIC:
Please remember that it is a legal requirement to have a valid cover note or certificate of motor insurance in your possession before you drive or leave your vehicle on a public highway
So if you insurance is renewed on the 15th but the paperwork is delayed until the 20th technically you have no insurance for 5 days due to the fact you have no proof I guess. No idea if it's just HIC covering their backs as they no longer send the certificate with renewal paperwork.

would think that its HIC covering their backs. We too no longer send out certificates with the renewal pack, they are sent after the policy renews.
*IF* it has no legal standing (and I cba to look it up) then I would imagine it would give HIC the right to withhold paperwork if they chose too should a problem arise.
tbh mate im guessing that it was your exhaust that made the insurance company not send dox's out.
Anything you have changed from standard must be declared these days.
The police must have rang your insurance and stated you had a modified exhaust and the insurance voided the policy.
unlucky. i didnt get anything when i got done for no insurance

very good point, undeclared mod = invalid insurance

was that when you got done for DD aswell ? if so they normally only charge for the most serious offence

Due to admin error my mother law got followed and done for no insurance and fined £200 and a date in court, few calls to the insurance company later and they relisten to the recorded convo's the insurance company apologised sent a letter out confirming she was insured and then it got threw out of court and the £200 fine reimbursed.
I too think bit more to the story!
yeps :d but no fine aswell!!!! all i had was £60 court costs
see, not working has its benefits ;)
Hmm, the law is a bit contradictory in the case of insurance certificates
47 Issue and surrender of certificates of insurance and of security
(1) A policy of insurance shall be of no effect for the purposes of this Part of this Act unless and until there is delivered by the insurer to the person by whom the policy is effected a certificate (in this Part of this Act referred to as a “certificate of insurance”) in the prescribed form and containing such particulars of any conditions subject to which the policy is issued and of any other matters as may be prescribed.
Which is fine, as that implies you need a certificate before you can drive. However, it also then goes on to say...
(3) Different forms and different particulars may be prescribed for the purposes of subsection (1) or (2) above in relation to different cases or circumstances.
So an email confirmation of the policy may well satisfy section 3 if it contains the appropriate details.
As said, undeclared modifications could, would and should void an insurance policy. Again, the law covers this.

I don't believe for one second that you were insured. If i had paid for insurance and got 6 points for not doing so i would be pretty pee'd off to say the least and definetly wouldnt just let it go like that. There is no reason the insurance company wouldnt of given you the correct documents (if you had declared mods, etc). I needed proof of insurance once for court and they sent me proof no problem.
see, not working has its benefits ;) ;) damper knows the score

Exacatly.. enough said I think.
I would definetly be kicking up a massive fuss if i had been done for no insurance after paying for it and being covered. My friend got pulled over for no insurance and was given a 21 day ticket (or similar) and his insurance company faxed the documents through to him at his work to prove he was covered.
Mrs Hobbit gotta a letter from court today. 3 points a 90 quid fine I(half was costs) for bad parking.
lol Only a woman could park that badly lol

Where the hell did she park :tard:
Outside the butchers, her back tyres was just touching the zig zags of a zebra crossing. Bloody muppet lol
I have no sympathy, although i'll probably end up paying the fine lol
Apparently that's how it works

I perform this service for all the cocks that choose to drive around with them on in perfectly clear weather by blinding them back with high beams :thumb:
Yeah, sorry but much like the thread starter, nice to see the cops making people turn them off.

not to back the topic starter up, but didn't we have a similar topic in the not too distant past with regards to someone being taken to court for apparently no insurance?
