right im getting a bit confused here

ive read through this and have some questions

regarding he fuel pump it says this
If fitting to a carb:

Your need to change the fuel tank to a GTE/GSI/SPI tank, and a external pump if a GTE/GSI and all new fuel lines. If you chose a SPi tank then your problery need to cut a hole in the floor under the rear seat to access the pump. Your need to fit a MK3 astra MPi fuel pump as well as new lines if carb.
the previous owner from here has already fitted a tank that has a return on it, so what do i do about the fuel pump? do i ned a pump that fits in the tank (if it has that option)

next thing is the wiring

First job is stripping of course, haynes manual to the rescue. Wiring side isnt to hard but not coverd in the haynes manual. To make it simple its best to (if a 1.2 or 1.4 SPi) cut the plugs off at the ecu end, and pull the wires through the gromit to the engine side. Your then be left with a massive mess and just a few lives and earths.
Once the engine is sat in the bay then its a good idea to connect all the wiring, and start cutting, I found it best to run the loom behind the drivers side turret and then through the blukhead by cutting out the corner slighty and then through a 52mm hole drilled in the blukhead though to the cabin. Once the hole is drilled its a case of colour matching.
If your engine is a C16XE then its even easyer, no imobliser wiring to worry about. It may be worth while to pull some wires back from the passenger side of the car where the ecu used to be. If your engine is a X16XE your need to get the plug for the imobliser pickup and that is somthing im working on making some idiot proof diagrams, will be completed soon and added. Once all the wires are connected (Soldering is best) its a good idea to refit the dash and decide where you want to mount the ecu.

it also has this diagram

I used a gte tank with a external gte fuel pump. The pump attaches under the drivers rear arches with a bracket. You'll have to run a new fuel line for the fuel return as the carb novas don't have this.

For the wiring you need the engine loom off the x16xe. You'll need to drill a hole into the battery tray side facing into the dash. Feed the wires which has the small black plug with the 7 wires and also the two main plugs that clip into the ecu, also the brown plug and purple one. This is what you'll need to connect to the wires underneath your steering column and to the back of the speedo clock ( see diagram above).
If you've bought the correct parts you should have the ecu with the engine, also you should have the ignition key, the barrel that connects around the ignition (the transponder) and the transponder will have the other set of wires to connect into the engines loom. (see above diagram)

but if i use a external pump wont i run low on fuel when cornering hard?

ive text the previous owner and he dosent know what car the tank came from al i know is it has a return outlet as well which is currently blocked off a hose and bolt

i have the complete car so i have everything off it

im guessing there is a plug where the dash loom connects to the original engine loom that i cut off?

wheres he best place to locate the ecu?

also what is the vss? vehicle speed sensor

With my tank (gte) it has a swirlpot built into it so doesn't run out when your cornering.

The speed sensor you'll need off a 1.2spi or if your running a digi dash you'll need the transponder for that. The speed sensor needs three wires running to your other wires inside the car. The speed sensor connects to your existing speedo cable. Without the speed sensor the car will cut out on overrun whilst going downhill and the management light (when wired in) will come on and your car will run erratically.

its oki found it, does the speed sensor have to com from a 1.2spi?

This is what you'll be needing. This is off mine which off a 1.2spi.
