Quite often when I get out of my car after a normal drive I can smell fuel from behind the drivers door/fuel cap area, is this normal or do I have another problem?

probably a split over flow hose, if its just after you filled up.

Have a nosey round your filler neck and breather pipe, neck may have become dislodged or rotted off, or your breathers could be perished!

Well I filled up before coming home tonight and could smell it but it has happened when I haven't filled up and just drove around normally.

My gte had this problem, or similar, it turned out to be a split between the inner arch panel and quarter panel, petrol vapour would leak into the car, check for any sign of rust and a good seal between the metal.

On mine the breather hose goes through a hole in the chassis leg, and the tank end is inaccessible. It's either a case of dropping the tank or making yourself a hatch in the rear seat pan.

Go to a hose/hydraulic supplier for the hose, not vauxhall.

Im with blue-peg on this one i reckon the breathers splitnear the filler neck top.

Yea mate but you will have to drop the tank to get to the other end as its a sod to do.

About 11 or 12 mm ID. At the wheelarch end it didn't want to go on the spout until i had undone the 3 self tappers holding the refiller spout onto the 1/4 panel and jiggled it about a bit.

Mines and a mates does it as well - Some times more alarming than others but IMO it's nothing to worry about

Doesn't seem to lose any petrol ony any the cars so we've not looked any further into it
