What sort of power should I expect to get from my Mk1 when it's done

I'd be happy with 90 BHP or above but I'd like to know a rough/better figure from folk with experience

1400 8v SR, Twin Weber 40's, 4 branch manifold, Upgraded Cam (nothing silly/lumpy)

Cheers in advance

Vaughan :)

Get a SRi head on there and you should see 100+

Keith's old 1300 was bored out to a 1400 and had a lot of work done to it - 118 BHP IIRC

yep it was a 1.4

with a decent SRI head and a good cam + setup will see you 120bhpish
100 tops with no sri head

SRi head and a better cam could be an option - It will definately be setup properly no matter what the spec :)

1.4, ats2 cam, and a 34/32 will see a nice 107bhp lol

it ticked over at around 1500-2000rpm, and did 10mpg lol

Hi,

I have a 1990 1.4sr, spec as follows :-

Standard bottom end, balanced.
SE head 37mm / 31mm valves, ported and polished
Kent AST11 with vernier
Twin 40's, inlet manifold matched with head.
ARP's on the rods.
Sportex manifold and system.

In beside the almost £4000 worth of receipts for bits and pieces was one for a £300 session on a roling road to set up. On the receipt is written 138bhp at 6250 rpm. (I take it this has been corrected to flywheel power)
I know this isn't much of verification but it is all I have to go on.
I can tell you it goes like a train and pulls all the way through the rev range.

I plan on putting it on a rolling road once the engine is back in. I took the engine out to tidy up the engine bay. I also stripped the engine to check it, fit arp's on the rods, get a broken sump stud repaired, fit a lightened flywheel and to put an atb diff in the box.

Cheers

Dave

Nice one mate, you need to join up to the Scotland region and show off some pictures of this Nova :)

I'd be happy with 90/100 BHP out my 1400 T40 engine
