Hi, Well i think it's time i got my finger out and got this project under way!

So the nova started off life as K93 1.2 white Van, my girlfriend bought it about 8 years ago and has been stored inside workshop since.:tard:

It was a really good shell with only needing minor repairs to body at rear sills and inside boot area near rear panel, so after sitting about in the workshop for many months we thought about doing some of the repairs, we dicided to replace the full front end, new crossmember , front panel and front wings.

These went on and unfortunately due to other work commitments sat in the corner for about 2 years all primed ready for paint.

Eventully last summer we pulled it out the corner and blew off the dust that was about 5mm thick and got the buzz to put some paint on,at last!!!:)

At the time my girlfriend saw a colour that she really liked, which was a kawasaki purple, so on it went and we were really happy with how it turned out, here's a few pics!!

Having trouble inserting pics!!! Help!!

You cant post pics until you have 15 posts. Dont go spamming your way to that amount...it may take you a while to reach 15 if the mods catch you lol

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Yeah i seen gunny's one, i was originally going for X16XE that i got from a mate, had stripped it down for rebuild and bought all new parts for engine to do a full build on it, and had made plans do a lot with in terms of change inlet system for itb's , cams and headwork.

But then i came across an offer i could not refuse.

Hence a Z16LER with 1300miles on it, out of a rolled VXR>:d

just make sure you fabricate the drivers mount out of some hefty metal mate

also if the motors been rolled with the engine running i would strip it down and rebuild :thumb:

Yeah feels heavy at the front mate. It wheelspins in 1st,2nd and 3rd.

The plan is for an LSD and the F28 box soon, then NOS.

Its my daily driver but i'm more into straight line performance just now so I'm building it up for Crail.

Thanks for the support so far.

I was planning a full strip and build anyway because it was rolled so thats not problem, just need to get some time to get engine sitting where i want it then make the mounts.

I'm gonna change the loom and ecu for aftermarket ecu and custom loom
to do away with DBW throttle set up.

this thread needs pics and what you doing about electrics youll have to rewire the whole car practicly and in my opinion youll have to make sure it can connect to vaux comps because a few vxr conversions i have seen need to be connected to a comp to be set up right

Dave if u read page1 post9 i explained what the engine was mate.

And why do the norm by fitting a z20let/ler that would be the along the same line as fitting c20let,lets build a front end heavy motor that is only good at straight line speed. (dont thinkso mate)

Remember i building this car for my girl, so its gonna be driven by her, so want to keep it as a good allrounder.

Anyway by the time i've worked my magic on the 1.6 Turbolol It will embarres most Z20LER's out there:d

Dude you suck, 192bhp standard, capeable of upto/more than 240 with remap, exhuast, filter and de-cat on original management, different crank and pistons to the c/x16xe (unless forged pistons are used of course) with a bigger head (personally i think vauxhall prepared them for tuning upgrades) lighter than a z20leh and very good engines. Regal have one at 300bhp and theres still loads to be made/fitted/thought up for the z16leh, it hasn't had the tuning past of the z20 engines.

^EDIT: i may be wrong on some things but 'AFAIK'

Good luck with the project mate, what gearbox are you using?

craig green
20-02-10, 09:02 PM
A 2.0 with the same bhp, will always be torquier & have a less peaky power delivery though. You could extend the same argument to anyone fitting an engine smaller than a big block 2.0.
As for stripping it down, why bother?? Its nearly new & better built to factory tolerances than it ever could be. I rolled an Astra GTE & the engine ran for a few minutes upside down with the corner of the rocker cover broken off, when I put it into another shell, it ran again with no issues, though it was a bit odd feeling for first few days, then kinda found its power again.

That purple was rank btw. Best paint for a combat kitted Corsa but not a sweet Nova.

Very true, but then again you have the weight differences, not immense but depending what kind of car your going for 'every little helps'

Would really like to useM32 box, if i can make it fit.

Dont like to make things easy for myself but hey, love a challange.

How's your nova any more progress mate.

gunny
20-02-10, 09:09 PM
The M32 is a bit locky a short stocky skinhead mate, from what i recall you would need to mince a hell of a lot out of the chassis leg then re-build it/strengthen it.

Not yet been waayyyy to busy with work, luckily as i need the money lol, but im hoping to get some progress over the next few weeks, it has to be a PVS this year!

jimbonov4

gunny

what ever you do dont map it with out changing the injecters as there maxed out from standard. with a stage 1 map the standard injectors max out a 4900rpm !!! so will lean out and melt pistons, not good. ive got corsa vxr and got the power upto 242bhp without a map lol. im lucky i ant blown it up yet as ive just found out that it was running lean  still pops some nice flames tho lol

At the time my girlfriend saw a colour that she really liked, which was a kawasaki purple, so on it went and we were really happy with how it turned out, here's a few pics!!

First post Bubba, unless you mean the name/code for it.

Hi Folks, Sorry no updates lately, been up to my eyes with work for customers, nova vxr is on the old back burner as they say, just done c20nva exhaust for rammie. Purple Nova has got a new Mate in the workshop, just got
93' SR red, pretty good nik, minor repairs req'd, will start thread for him.

This now give's me more time to get vxr project the way i want it, GF has been nipping my head to get nova done hence the purchase of 93' 14 sr, dont need much for MOT.

Great project bud:thumb: This engine is a cracker, we got a mate who`s strapped on a K04 and he`s running 288bhp & 280lb/ft and he`s got another mapping session to come.
