...am I going to get pulled over tomorrow then for no MOT? lol

The MOT has lapsed on the Celica (before you ask, it took a month to get all the parts delivered!) and I'm driving it 75 miles to see Craig tomorrow to have an MOT and work done. Bearing in mind I'll be using main roads and going through Salisbury and Southampton, how many times will ANPR/local bored coppers have a fanny and go after me? :d

Well, if you are going to a pre booked mot you will be fine, providing the car is insured?

but i think you will get stopped twice for them to ask why.:P

ive gone once, but if you put your foot flat to the floor when being chased it wont count as stopping as you will be rammed off the road.lol.

If the police try to stop you make sure you end up on Police stop action cops!

Or just stop jump out the car and run away lol

at 75 miles you're taking the pish a bit?

Rules don't state so according to directgov. Plus I'm fcuked if I'm going to honest harry round the corner who will no doubt cut my car in half and weld an escort to the back then tell me my tyres need replacing at a cost of £800 lol

75 miles yes that is a distance and the local bobbies may deem that to be over the top however. my friend was driving down south in his audi a4 estate with his caravan on the back, halfway down the m6 he realised his mot had ran out(from the little sticker things) so he stopped when he could and rang 118118 to find mot stations local to where he was working and simply booked it in and hey presto he was fine. so yes should be fine but if the bobbie is being funny or in a mood he will try to find more problems....

So long as you have insurance the cert is trivial

In all fair ness, everyone knows the car has to have mot to tax it. aslong as its insured anyone will understand you need to get the car for MOT before you can tax it.

LOL. Epic MOT and TAXless race through the streets of sarfhampton. 'Look at me, setting an example' lol

What time is 'early'?

ianglanister
05-02-10, 09:10 PM
as far as i know the ANPR does not flash up for mot? not done the full training yet so may be wrong. i know that when i do a M.PNC check if flashes up about insurance but you have to go through different menus to find out about MOT and i have never come across details about tax on the PNC system

Lee
05-02-10, 09:11 PM
Do you work on these systems then ian? If so, turn them off tomorrow lol

Hayley says the cameras pick up no MOT. If we were going via Dorchester and the A31 she'd tell us what points to wave at the cameras lol

They won't care. I drove for 3 months with an expired MOT (whoops) and encountered various ANPR cameras, traffic cars etc.

I love the rule that says as long as you are booked in for a test you can drive to it - anywhere lol. I have used it to great effect. :)

Dont do it!

Ive been pulled in 2 seperate vehicles for HAVING an MOT but just in time, for example, last time it was a Wednesday we got pulled in the van for ''not having MOT'' however we did get it on the Monday, similar happened in my first car, my little nova!

For real?! I was once told i could drive a car with no tax or test, just becuase im driving it back to my house after purchasing it.....

ianglanister
05-02-10, 11:05 PM
no when buying the car you can not drive it without mot/tax, if you had booked it into a garage for mot but simply drove it home you would be covered because it was actually booked in.

The simply fact is you CAN drive a vehicle without mot providing it is being taken to a pre booked mot but it has to be pre booked as if you get stopped and say this the bobbie may well check. Also the car has to have insurance.

^That is rubbish.

I wouldn't know about that lol. You can drive with no tax if the car is insured and heading for a booked in MOT. My mate's managed that before. All the way from Somerset to Newcastle lol. He rang the DVLA and police beforehand and they both confirmed it.

Ive drove a car before for 6 or so months with no MOT an never got pulled once. You'll be reet chap.

HAHA ill be popping round craigs then tomorrow say hello Jack, he only round the corner from me, what time you coming down??

Also as its a booked MOT then its likley that you will get off without anything if you are pulled over, there are car transporting companies that drive cars all over country without MOT's because they're going to an MOT bay, despite being in a different city.

Had a car driven from Manchester to Southampton without MOT, don't think that the driver was pulled once.

Also watch out for Silver (&blue come to think of it!) Skoda Octavia VRS diesel as its a plain clothes police car that pootles about on the M27.

However ill be surprised if you get pulled once.

When i bought a car and drove it back i just booked an MOT online through kwikfit?? and never turned up, i bought the car from 45 miles away

Jack
06-02-10, 03:07 PM
Yeah, law states you can only drive to and from the MOT garage, or to and from a place of repair. Whether or not you could bend that to diversions en route (I had to drive past a fuel station, but it was pretty much on the way) or that your home was the "place of repair" is a bit grey but meh.

Anyways, we didn't get pulled once :( Lee did seem to attract police cars like flies to sh!t though lol
