Can someone give me the above please as you never know what cars are actually registered as a 2litre 16v and what arn't...
Trying to get some quotes together.

Yes i have searched and i only came across people selling 2litre 16v that are not registered as that.

Thanks.

Any decent insurers known for a 19year old with 2years NCB 20 soon. No convictions blah... OL2 postcode??

any reg you put into an insurance site will come up as the origional car you will need to ring due to the mods so you dont need a reg

I'm getting quoted 1400 on a 1.9 TDi 125BHP golf atm so doubt it would be 3k.

As said, you cant put in a 2.0 16v nova reg, they just come up with the standard cc engine/model. The engine goes down under modifications

You think thats bad, try a 3.0 V6 from a different marque lol

Mind you, HIC were one of the few who did quote me (almost sensibly iirc). I'm an ex-HIC customer though.

It boils my piss too. So much so I'm starting a witch hunt and will e-mail crimestopper (with a link) every time I read an advert like this one

Given that you are going to have to deal with a specialist I'd phone Flux and explain your intention, but sometimes you won't get the best deal until you have the car and they know you are serious. I say this because I asked them about insurance on an MX5 before I went looking and had one price, but 6 months later when I bought one, the price was lower. (Wife's toy!)

any reg you put into an insurance site will come up as the origional car you will need to ring due to the mods so you dont need a reg

If its connected to the dvla, it will come up as a 1998cc.

^Snap.

You would be best off getting a quote on the car the engine came out of and then add a bit, Or just ring somewhere, because a phone isnt the most heavy thing in the world.

Thought they'd be linked with the Dvla.

they are but the systems only carry the cars standard details not altered so you have to tell them whats been done

rbs who i worked for who do dl tesco bmw etc there system software is almost 20 years old and just cant deal with that sort of thing

Benn
25-02-10, 09:25 PM
Erm if they are on the dvla, then it will bring the car info up on what's registered like my comp at work..

nah it has numberplate recognition but the systems are programed for the standard details for groups etc so just brings up the std car details is a very basic system

Benn

Oh right, that's crap.

Unfortunatly it's now been recycled but ya might be able to use the plate for a quote ;)

still brings it up as a 1300 on insurance quotes mate.

Either way, you'd still need to declare it as modified; for an engine conversion the insurance co will probably want to speak to you about it anyway.

Well there ya go then, it was registered properly and had the XE's engine number on the logbook so if it's still quoting ya as a 1300 then unfortunatly it's a telephone job and not a confused.com search :(

I got a quote from sky without a reg (the one I gave them was registered as a 1.6) So I just went through the deatils, just took about 10 minutes for the underwritter to get back to me.
