hi guys,

after i've written a enormous long post i've recognized that

i must have 15 posts to attach pics...so here`s my 14th one,

i'm tobi writting from germany and at the moment building a

2door mk1 saloon, don't wonder if you read some things twice,

but i've saved my first post for this topiclol

i think i should tell a bit about the engine, it's a e16se,

steel conrods, cnc machined pistons, new head ported extremely up

by a company normally building the engines for german hillclimb races,

mangoletsi manifold ported up for twin 45`s catcams 298° cam,

cleaned "thing" below the rocker cover...cnc machined rocker cover...

engine sounds very interesting. how much power you hoping for?

spp_dev
01-02-10, 10:04 PM
the wheels will be bbs rs, i`m not sure about the size yet,

think we'll test it, car should became very low...interior will be

quite original, the only thing i'll change will be the seats, i have

champion recaro seats from the mk2 astra (kadett e) and ordered

original nova fabric from holland, so it should look quite original...

indicators will be white ones without the yellow caps inside...

silencer will have a straight 2" polished one...so now i can post pictures:)

spp_dev

so here are the pics...we're hoping for about nearly 150hp

so he're the pics...

it's a '86 mk1 1300 with 56tkm and from the first owner,

he're a few pics how it looked like when i bought it in october 09

http://i50.tinypic.com/rtkf8n.jpg
http://i46.tinypic.com/28syqfp.jpg

so now let's come to the engine, it'll be a 1600 8v with

twin 45's weber, here two pics of the head how i bought it

(new out of the package;) )
http://i48.tinypic.com/k9gl5d.jpg
http://i48.tinypic.com/2yydu1d.jpg

here the inlet manifold before and after porting...

http://i47.tinypic.com/i3i23l.jpg

new original gm oil pump

http://i47.tinypic.com/hwa6fk.jpg

steel con rods

http://i49.tinypic.com/23syzyo.jpg

the pistons are original mahle 1. oversize, but completely

cnc-machined, the cam is from catcams 298°

here a thing i'm very proud of, the rocker cover

machined out of full material

http://i50.tinypic.com/2rcacly.jpg

and a here my speedo, german speedster dials built

into a completely new build nova housing

http://i47.tinypic.com/15n2g4h.jpg

the wheels will be bbs rs i'm not sure if 7x15 et25

or 7x15 et38 or probably 6,5x15 the suspension is a height-adjustable

h&r one, the silencers are 50mm stainless steel from fox

...so im looking forward to read your comments,

regards tobi

Looking good but how are you going to put oil in?

I assume you have a mk4 astra ecu to sort the engine temperature feed to the vx220 stack ;)

oh and I pruned some of your spammy posts :p

Stick a tube from the bottom of an oil bottle, into the sump, and blow in the top lol Parts so far look good :)

i didn't test the stack yet, but i've bought a wiring loom with whoom

the speed and the rpm did work yet in a nova...the sensor for water temp

is like i've seen the same like in many other vauxhalls, i think only the fuel sensor should be a problem...

...yeah i had to make i few silly posts to get the right to post pics:d

dipstick lol You will find it very difficult to fill it up from there unless you do it very very slowly, as it will back up, it will also make it look like it's got 20 litres of oil in on the distick reading for a few hours.

Its called a vagina bud. Nova drivers like to check oil levels regularly.

quite right, next time say "Herzlich Willkommen spp_dev, mein Name ist Simps." sounds more eloquent haha

not really, we got a machine with whoom we produce signs and something like that in our company, years ago i worked at that thing, nowadays i only use it for carparts and work in the office...salesman haha...

trust me you WILL NEED the ecu from a MK4 astra to simply drive the coolant temperature part of it as the signal from the sensor wont work if you connect it to the dash. The speedo will need some sort of wheel sensor putting on (abs ring from a corsa B etc) and the rev counter should work straight away with no problems as its a traditional 50/50 item.

http://www.speedsterclub.nl/bibliotheek/technische%20documentatie/tis/Wiring%20Diagrams/Body%20System/Instrument/Circuit%20Diagram/Instument.pdf enjoy

spp_dev
01-02-10, 10:25 PM
for the "wheel sensor" thing i've got a thing i think it's called adjustable speedo healer... but the thing with the ecu sounds bad, don't wanna know
what that will cost...

Stuart
01-02-10, 10:27 PM
get one from a scrap yard, dirt cheap. OR make the circuit yourself lol

spp_dev
01-02-10, 10:33 PM
must it be from the z22se

or can it be from any mk4 engine?

Stuart
01-02-10, 10:37 PM
not sure if you can use others, but they should since the dashboards in the astra wouldnt change their inputs

Hi Tobi,

herzlich wilkommen to the PNG forum, seems our forum is becoming more and more international these days. Portugal, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Ireland... you name it. Even people from Blighty can be found here! ;)

Anyway congratulations on the very clean Corsa-A you found last October. I've been meaning to find one in Holland but it looks like I have to venture in to Spain to get anything as clean as yours. Happy building!

MfG,
Niek

P.S. is that colour Mexico Red by any chance? Best colour ever! :thumb:

have you got the z20let or the z22se one? i think the z22se one works with
fuel guage in litres and the let one with full to empty...

hi, i probably would search in germany, i've seen a few once similar to mine, but you have to pay about 1500-2000€

yes the colour is mexico red;)

The fuel gauge is simply a case of swapping a few things round to make it read right. It dosent go through the ECU like the temperature does.

2.2 clocks i think.. and full to refill with litres in between. having said that been a while since i drove it!

spp_dev

parts weren't only sandblasted, most parts were completely cleaned
before getting sandblasted, but i don't really now the english words to
tell you more

16-04-10, 01:47 PM
haha you work at rock im park georgous, it's about 3 kilometres from my flat...

...but the engine will find place next winter, but the saloon itself should be rolling in summer...

hm i would say the expensive thing is your own time preparing all the things (cleaning etc) tha sandblasting and coating is not tooo heavy for exampla the block costed about 150€

sparkie1401
16-04-10, 01:53 PM

so now the loons on the road,

compbrake top mounts are fitted, (brought me 15mm deepness on the front;))

white indicators are also fitted...tomorrow i'll get my wheels and the moment

of truth will come:roll:

what camber are you guys driving? i've adjusted now to -2° camber on the

front...

mayhem
08-05-10, 04:24 PM
i'm running almost no camber, but i use my corsa a alot for dragracing.
iirc a nova should have about 1 - 1,5 camber.

take the rocker cover off and pour it in its only 10-12 bolts haha

and for the cost of a rocker gasket, replacing it with each oil change is far from a bad idea

i still dont know the english word for that, afaik they dont even know it overthere.

just wondering, what's the price for that in germany? here in holland it will cost me 650 for non split rims.

Graeme
13-12-10, 05:57 PM
It translates to polished compacted, I don't know what this means either

spp_dev
13-12-10, 06:01 PM
yeah let's see how much noise they'll produce,

electric will be a trijekt, i think you guys don't know
this one, it's a bit like a halltech, but from germany,

a set of 17" OPC wheels would be at about 450euro

here you can see how it works

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo_ZucjICns

mayhem
13-12-10, 06:20 PM
It translates to polished compacted, I don't know what this means either

basicly, it works with a huge bucket, with a about 400kg of foam.

it takes about 30 hours iirc.

best part is that the pores of the aluminium are closed, so brake dust has no chance, and there very easy to clean.

Graeme
13-12-10, 06:26 PM
Is it like a liquid or cleaning product, what makes the foam?

spp_dev
13-12-10, 06:32 PM
no it's no foam, but yes it takes long, it's
kind of a granulate

http://www.lowandshine.com/verdichten-granulat.gif

Graeme
13-12-10, 06:35 PM
And you just put aluminium in it? How does it polish it?

Benn
13-12-10, 06:37 PM
I've seen it before, the beads (bits) are excited/vibrated, as they rub against the metal it polishes the surface. But have no clue what it's called.

Graeme
13-12-10, 06:38 PM
If you don't know Benn, it musn't be available it the UK

spp_dev
13-12-10, 06:43 PM
yes right, it's many hours in there with different kinds of that granulat,
it's vibrating etc and in this way it get's polished...

...make holidays in germany, take your wheels with you and i'll make them for you :D

anyway where are the throttle bodied guys with comments?
first thing i realised is that the connection between the two bodies
doesn't fit and has to be shortened...and i think my trumpets are definately
too short, range should be from 3000 to 7,5/8000 we was using this camshaft from catcams:

duration
duration
maximum lift
lift at TDC

298 / 298°
260 / 260°
11.40 / 11.40mm
3.75 / 3.75mm

give me tips :D

I would imagine so, but the main problem with parts like that is people want custom sizes

changing the length wouldn`t be a big problem...
...but the dcoe style flange at the side of the trumpets
would in every case be the same

Just read through this, really awesome project!

I can't get over how pristine the Engine is, your Engine is tidier than my whole car haha

Your work is amazing, I love the finish of the engine, especially the rocker cover is amazing.

As for the tires, do you look like a Compomotive MO5? They are very pretty and the color of your TR may be very attractive, although you choose are very classic and give a nice touch.

I have a TR 2s, but green and Spanish.

Greetings.
