This Nova is something of a legend on the hillclimb and sprint scene, running in the up to 1400cc class, and built/driven by Andrew Bradley of BTEC Racing (Oxfordshire). Thousands of hours went into the building and development of this car, and it has to represent the ultimate 1400cc class competitor.

It's pretty much the only thing which can compete and win against the highly developed Minis which dominate the small capacity Modified Production Saloon classes. It has won the Class on countless occasions, and still holds Class Records at venues such as Castle Combe, Colerne, Abingdon. If you want a potential Championship or Class Winner, this is it.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll66/hillclimbescort/011-4.jpg
It's making a shade over 160bhp, using an IHI hybrid turbo, running at 1.5bar, bolted to a sleeved down 1200cc Vauxhall OHC engine with liners to take the bore size down to 985cc (in order to comply with regulations for the 1400cc class, where turbocharged cars are subject to a 1.4 multiplier on the Capacity).
The engine has been moved lower in the engine bay, and a touch to the rear and left to improve the weight distribution. Likewise the drivers seat has been moved back to help with this, accompanied by an extended steering column and floor mounted pedal box.
It runs a custom fuel injection system and full engine management via an OMEX 600 ECU with anti-lag system. It has WILWOOD 4 pot front brakes, a very comprehensive weld-in T45 roll cage, fabricated front and rear anti-roll bars, coilover suspension and much, much more.
Best of all, it weighs in at just 595kg. 'Cars and Car Conversions' magazine ran a 4 page feature on the car back in 1999, shortly after the car was first built, although many improvements have been made since then.
It has recently (27th November 2009) returned from an extensive check session with BTEC Racing, who have replaced the head gasket, changed all fluids and filters, and completed a full rolling road test, showing Maximum Power 162.3 bhp @ 7,358 rpm; Maximum torque 129.3 lb/ft @ 5,532rpm. I have the print-out data to confirm this.
It is now ready and waiting to win again in the hands of a new owner.
