Long read but funny as fook

Today at luchtime i got a call from a mate (Will Foy) he asked if i was intrested in going halfs on a SR he had found cheap. He needs some parts as do i so i agreed.

I went over to newport to collect him about 16:45. The car was apparently in Chippenham wich is only about 20miles from me so thought great. it wasnt it was 20 miles the other side of cheippenham, no problem really.
On the motorway i got stopped for having no tax. he didnt do anything just give me a producer.

After a lot of messing around we arrived, went to see it- fantastic it had a Clifford alarm, GSi spoiler, unmarked interior (no rip in bolster) a set of Softstars with great tyres, fully rebuilt engine (wich ticked over sweetly), immaculate dash. we were like this is great, none of the panels are any good as they are all dented or rusting, the boot it rotten through as is the engine bay.

none of the problems botheered us as we only want the parts.

Gave the bloke the pre arranged fee and got on our way, 7 miles down the road Will was following me in the golf and i stopped suddenly, he didnt was swerving all over the road and then stopped. the brakes were now ceased on, the calipers were locked up. great, i tried to drive it for a bit and had a close call with another police car. i decided they had free'd and went to turn round in a driveway. it stalled and then wouldnt start! the woman wanted to get in. I got it going again but it stalled 2 minutes later. we had no tools so we rang the guy back and said we were bringing it back to put on his drivewayand would collect it tommorow. It stalled again (with Will driving) and the brakes were locking up again. we were at the bottom of as hill. i told him to drive the golf as i would drive the nova. Will said what if the brakes catch fire, i said i will jump out. We got finally got it back to the guys house and parked it up.

The car has been stood for 18 months so this is the prob with the brakes and it kept stalling as the carb was blocked, we are going to collect it tommorow, i never got home until 22:30 and had done over 200 miles.

thats one hell of a road trip!

I'd get him to refund some cash!

Spose the bits like brakes and carb are fixable though?

Went back today to fix the brakes etc, the carb is sweet there is nothing wrong with it.

Had a nightmare with the brakes as the locking wheel nut key he gave us was snapped so we couldnt get them off.

We managed to free them up and i drove it back over 50 miles with absolotley NO brakes not even the hadnbrake would work.
The windscreen is virtually shattered.

But it ran sweet as fook all the way home, i cant belive we are going to break this car it seems to good. The only thing wrong is the brakes but they are crap anyway as they are the sealed calipers and not the vented ones.

So anybody need any parts look in the parts section for details and PM me.
