Jumped about in my new 2.5 wrx for a bit a now it feels slow, so was going to go for a re-map. Fella in work has a astra 1.9 cdti and he's had a local garage say they'll take his bhp to 185 for £250...just manipulate his ecu. I've looked for my impreza and scooby world want £700 for this. Seems steep considering and emerald ecu could be bought never mind a re-map.
Any ideas for the preza? Think I should try the £250 chap?
Your mates Astra is just a simple OBD flash mate. You can DIY it mega easy. My van hit 198lb/ft doing it lol

He says he'll get 390 something of torque...not sure what the value is. Is it a do it yourself then

From the 1.9 16v CDTi???? Surely thats never right?
Yeah, from what i know it is anyway, you can get the parts to do it to just about any modern car aswell. Literally just flash the ECU with a new map, overwriting the OE one.

Yep standard the astra is 320nm or 237 lb foot and they will take to 390 nm or 287 lb foot. Or at least that what his web-site says
Ooooh i thought you meant he'd get 390 lb/ft lol lol was gonna say like!

haha that'd rip the engine from the car - Diesel seems that way to get good power though
haha that'd rip the engine from the car
It'll tear the alternator to bits first :( exactly what mine did with near 200 torques

Did you have the same 1.9 cdti engine or the 1.7?
Ive got the 1.7Di. A 16v non intercooled version of the CDTi basically.
John, you can buy a £70 tuning box from egay which basically does the same for the vectras Chris has been running one in his vectra 1.9 CDTI for two years now and it goes like a bloody good un...
My advice with a Scoob remap is to get everthing done at once. They have three cat convertors on there and the breathing is pretty restriceted. So, it would be wise to bin off the snorkal which is located behind the drivers wing, get a panel filter and remove two out of the three cats and a walbro 255 pump From there get a map and make sure you run Vmax or 98+ron.
It will make it a little quicker, but failing that your going to need a bigger turbo, bigger injectors and carry on from there.
The newage ecu is very very good at what it does, so i wouldnt bother changing to any other system, you just need to get it flashed and the jobs a good un'

The £70 tuning box doesn't do exactly the same as an ODB remap on a common rail diesel though. The tuning box is just some resistors that fool the pressure sensor in the fuel rail into returning a lower value, so the fuel pump ups the pressure and sticks more fuel in. An ODB remap should up the boost pressure and alter the fuel injection timing and/or duration to up the power and economy with less soot.
Mike, is the crank auxiliary pulley damped on the corsa?

Try Vessport near Stirling pretty good at remaps
