View Full Version : Coloured Calipers and Disc Centres - Opinions Please
What are every ones thoughts? I'm awaiting the return of my beam and knuckles that have been powder coated black and I'm going to paint all my calipers and disc centres up and get everything reassembled, just can't decide whether to do them subtle (black, silver, gold) which also could be considered a bit boring, or a more obvious colour like a bright or dark red, which could be considered a bit dated, chavvy. The car will be diamond black with red bumper stripes. Pictures are also welcome of your own brake set ups
Comments like 'Its your car do what you want' are not required, thanks Graeme

i prefer silver as it makes all the parts look brand new
All the new calipers I have seen have been like a gold anodised have deteriorated rapidly
Have you already got the discs? company called CRN I think? on ebay will plate their discs for you for about £10-15 so they stay new looking.

i would only paint the calipers a bright colour
ther rest would be best more subtle me thinks and are al better than rusty

if the theme is black and red do them red.
thats my opinion, but its your car end of the day
what colour are the wheels?
i like bronze/gold calipers for some reason, especially behind a dark colourd wheel.

Graeme what about yellow calipers? My mate has has done the calipers yellow on an estoril blue E46 coupe and they look wicked!
Yellow is far too ninetys for me unless they're a five grand ceramic upgrade on a Porsche, but I can imagine they do look good against such a lovely blue

Id do them a bright red personally, will go with the red bumper stripes nicely :thumb:
That was my thoughts mate just don't want to not like it once its done, but its not like you can see a lot through Alessios anyway

Photoshop with a few bright colours and dark/subtle colours would be best bet mate, but imho red seems to go with any/most colours but can see where your coming from about them possibly looking chavvy :)
Just checked Lee h's wip and I'm liking the red, going to have a look at Mr Bishops car now
Mix a bit of gold in to silver Hammeright for the calipars, then black for the disc centers and out edges.
thats exactly how mine are on my loon, but i carnt find any pics
edit: you can just see them on this pic, hope it helps

Got my discs from CRN, took ages to get them but they're good. Plated too.

no thats the best way to put em on, so the groove takes all the gases and sh1t away from top to bottom
they that way round on my Evo :thumb:
I got rid of red when I got the 4 pots and glad I did to be honest. They looked a bit chavvy on my car.
Just black all round now.
Gotta be silver for me, just makes them look nice and fresh/ new:

Red etc can look chavy/tacky/cheap IMO.

ah, i fitted my red dots the other way as thats what it said on the leaflet
Cheers for all the comments, I settled for Hammerite satin black on the disc centres and outer edges, and rear backing plates, I think I'll be doing the same on the calipers tomorrow

It depends more on the vanes inside the disc, not the grooves on the outside.

Looking at the disc the groves should flick anticlock wise...
