Well all, i just came across a crowd in belgium called hottuning that sell "dirt" cheap coilovers, mainly to the vw/euro scene, but also list coilovers for the nova(corsa a them)....... http://www.hottuning.co.uk/ sorry cant get a direct link go it to products and scroll down slightly there the coilovers 4th row down on the right, Not the two on the top crazy money. Iv asked on some vw forums to see about quality and also done a few google searches, they have mixed reviews.

Has anyone on here ever used them, i'm thinking of trying them out cant really go wrong at that money for adjustables:thumb:

the jamex ones on ebay for £200 are excellent for the money. they are not re-bound adjustable but have certainly improved the handling of my friends corsa. you do get what you pay for with stuff, but if you want ride height adjustabillity, a stiffer ride and on a budget go for the jamex ones.

im buying cheap ones but i only want them purely for a slammed car so they are fine for that but quality etc there useless

youngcorsakeenan

ye i want her slammed but also to handle well(ish for not much money), Would the jamex's be any good for that?

they will improve handling slightly but ride quality will most proberbly be shocking and a jawbreaker and you will need to take good care of them and avoid potholes etc or it will again most proberbly be game over

my mate has the hottuning one's on his phase1 106. there ok'ish.

what's used a lot here when going low cheap, is Vmaxx or Supersport.

supersport is very, very, stiff. i'm running vmaxx coilovers on my XE nova, and tbh, they do the job.
in an ideal world i want Avo's, but there about 2,5 times the price of vmaxx lol

Thanks lads, just wondering how low can a nova go front/back before thing start rubbing....ect....

Stuart

imho they wont handle nicely AT ALL. but you will get the slammage you want.

rubbing depends on tyre size/chassis tolerance etc

probly be 185/50 14 stretched over widened stelies!!;) So the best to go for on a budget of say 300 quid is the jamex??. There'l be a c16sel veccy engine in her

I paid £850 for front and rear GRP A Billstein coilovers and they don't have adjustable rebound either! I've never really got good use on them so can't comment on ride quality

if you want your car slammed and are not worried about handling (which by the sounds of things your not as you are using stretched tyres etc) then pay 200 for the jamex stuff.

if they can survive 6months on a v6 corsa and still going they will be fine for your nova.

the handling on the corsa is ok,its never going to handle well anyway as its got such i giant lump in the front, but its not bouncy or too hard.

for 200 kwid they are a bargain.

have you heard that or actually driven with stretched tyres?
you UK guys already start crying when running et 38 and a 195 tyre on a 7.5j wheel...

no one is crying mate, people are recomending he spends 400 plus on some coilovers for a car, but he is using stretched tyres. you dont see many race cars running tyres too small for the width of the rims now do ya'!

hence the reason i said spend 200 on the jamex stuff, itl do the job and save him 200+ pounds.

if he was building a car for the track, the gaz stuff or bilstein would be my recomendation as would a set of correct size tyres. :thumb:

youngcorsakeenan
31-01-10, 06:07 PM
now now lads be goodlol . I'm not saying that im gunna' have madly stretched tyres just a very slight strench with low pros' i work in a tyre bay so i know the correct size for the rim and i know i will not handle as well. and if i were to put it on a track id use 15 or 16's with the correct size tyres and proper coilovers. im concidering those AP ones as they are well priced, produced in germany and seem to be fairly good quality.

Dirtydog1
31-01-10, 06:14 PM
lol, thats all i was saying dude, it was obvious you were doing your car up for looks as opposed to the doing it up for the track. hence the reason i recomended the cheapy coilovers. im not sure why the other guy starting insisting we were crying over your stretched tyres lol

they look cool... end of :)

mayhem
31-01-10, 06:30 PM
lol

it's just me, i'm dutch, i'm used to seeing stretched tyres, and driving with them. and every time it's mentioned here, it's always the same talk about how bad it handles etc.
just a bit bored of it tbh, nothing to do with you, just the fact that i't always slagged off here.

Dirtydog1
31-01-10, 06:35 PM
i wasnt slagging them off buddy, we were discussing suspension. i was simply pointing out that there was no point spending 400 odd kwid on gaz when he was going for a slammed car on stretched tyres. unless of course he has that sort of money.

again as ive said, stretched tyres do look cool BUT.....no race cars use them.....you know why????? cos' they are no good for handling

youngcorsakeenan
31-01-10, 06:46 PM
i reckon stretched tyres look brilliant but i know they will not handle.....its all about weather you want a car to handle or look well.....can please everyone:roll:

mayhem
31-01-10, 06:58 PM
lmfao. i just dont get why stretched tyres need cheap suspension..
good suspension is always important.. stretched tyres or not..
and why are we comparing a race car to a street car?

Dirtydog1
31-01-10, 08:17 PM
lol, it doesnt need cheep suspension because it has stretched tyres. go back to the begining where he asks if the cheep stuff on ebay is any good. the jamex ones ARE good for the money. Thats why i suggested it.
i was highlighting the fact that if he is going for looks, he doesn't necessarily need the 400 pound gaz stuff.

see what im saying pal.

im not here to argue with you about how good your stretched tyres are, i was helping a guy out with a suspension question.
