View Full Version : 1.4 block 1.2 head and carbs

right picking up a new project tomorow got a single point injection corsa 1.4 engine with bent valves and a 1.2 carb nova head spare will the 1.4 block take the 1.2 head. and anyone know where i can get a twin 40 manifold for the 1.2 head?

it will fit together....

the 1300 'sport' type manufold will fit.

the 1200 cam is crappy, if you fit the 1400 cam carrier & cam, you need to sort out a fuel pump arrangement

do you know if that head is from a 12ST or a 12NV as the ST might be higher comp. keep us updated, i wanna know how savage it is when finished :thumb:

yes cams being ditched for something better possibly a kent itme with vernier probably end up with a facet pump and regulator.

and i dont know but will find out code tommorow

so if i put this head on the block in theory i should have higher comp than using the standard 1.4 spi

yes. it helps if you get a bit of perspex, drill some holes in it & bolt it to a combustion chamber & using a syringe, measure cooking oil in to get the cc of the head, then do the same in a bore with the piston at tdc, then measure the thickness of the old gasket.

then post the measurements on here & i will go away & work out the theoretic CR of your engine

dito, im looking for a 1.4 block at the moment. are you running twin carbs or anything? i tried a 1.4 se head on a 1.6 se block before, the dam cr was so high the starter gave up trying to turn it over. haha

later found out the head had been skimmed 40 thou lol

yer will be on twin carbs or maybe even bike carbs and for jimbob is a 12st head that will be used

been thinking actually if i get bike carbs from a 1200 would i be able to uses standardish jetting on this setup or will a car run alot more fueling

the carbs would need to be from no more than a 600 or maybe a 750 cc bike....

the bike engine revs twice as fast as the nova engine

never thought of it like that
