last time I installed AVG, it has started to do the old Norton trick of taking over PC waaaayyyy too much...so I recommend Avast, that is one cracking program.

On virgin's free one, slows the machine up as much as AVG did. I liked Avira too.

isnt that cable?? Not everywhere has it.

I used AVG once but it only wanted to install for a months trial & I couldnt get it to run beyond that successfully. Shame, it seemed good & far quicker running for my PC than that dreaded Norton 8ollocks.

Lol @ Linux, although it is a good idea. Free anti virus programs are OK but ones you pay for are much much better, if you download a free one there is a way to test it by downloading a "virus" (a harmless test file to see if the anti virus finds it, if it does its worthy, if not then get rid of it and get a different anti virus) I have Spybot S&D & Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as its best to use two anti virus programs adn scan in safe mode. (Obviously don't scan your machine withboth anti virus programs at the same time, do them on different days)

AVG Free
Avast!
Malware Bytes
Spybot S&D
There's another anti spyware which I use that I forget the name of now.

Scans in safe mode are a good idea, but difficult as you can't schedule them.

Otherwise... yeah, Linux lol

I use AVG as well - Never had any problems with it

Runs a daily virus scan at 5PM every day and auto updates :)

Had AVG have now got Avast. Can't fault either. I also use Malware.

The only thing I hate about Avast is it always displays and verbally tells you, "Virus database has been updated".

I used to use AVG, but switched back to NOD32 after about 3 years of not using it. Laptop is much quicker now and no more mobile broadband drop-outs :)
