ok im having a debate with my mate, who owns a 106 s2 rallye,he unplugged his battery for whatever reason...now with it connected back up the car wont go over 3k revs...it also backfires like a gun shot,he said when you disconnect battery it resets the ecu....surely this isnt true?i think the car's a car shed in all honesty....110k miles...spark plugs blacker than black....and now this coughing like it has swine flu lol

what's your thought's on this?

Is it non STD EUC then...it may do it in his car but shouldn't

On the early Vauxhalls you could reset fault codes on the ECU if you diconnected the battery - but not the overall map!!

Sounds like the pug is just unwell.

...but they handle awesome out of the box.

DLD, can your mate not service his S2 and flash the codes? Poor thing sounds like it deserves a better owner!

it has pugflu the only solution is to scrap it.

Safe mode tends to richen up the mixture and back off the ignition to prevent det or meltage, so yes, it would backfire like a whore if the engine's not standard.

well tell a lie, the hardware is a fairly good concept and gives some scope for tuning. BUT its the whole setup that is behind them ie locked software to put people off using it etc.
