Can folk post up pictures of how well/flush there GTE Digidash lines up with there Mk2 Nova dash ?

My Digidash seems to sit out by about 5mm at each side by the Nova clocks top covers bit as can be shown here

I'm going to try and get it to sit flush and look more factory

Can people post up how theres sit/line up?

iirc you may get better alignment by trimming/butchering the corners to a 10-20mm chamfer!

I know there bigger like but is it kinda normal for them to stick out a wee bit

I'm not really wanting to hack too much away

I trimmed the bottoms corners of the cowling off mine (to the left hand side of the fixings) as it annoyed me with the gap, in a sqared off fashion, the cowling sat perfectly then, as it would with nova clocks. I thought it looked much better tbh.

mines about the same dude, mine sits more flush on the fuel side of the dash than the rev counter side for some reason though lol

nope not got a picture of it only videos, but can go and get one if you want one?

vaughan you worry to much lol.

i will try and find a pic of mine,
but i know that on the left hand side, i have to bend the metal tab for the top plastic to get the digi in and out....

and nothing else is chopped apart from the tabs

edit, do you mean the bottom line of the dash. as im sure mine doesnt show like that lol.

Bottom line mate - Just want it to sit flush and line up like Nova dials would lol

Too much of a perfectionist for wee bits to be wrong and out of place

To get em bang on, you need to shave or file the edge of the dash down so it will sit better, and then mess about with screwdrivers and such to wiggle/prise it into position, mine is just slapped in tbh and has a big gap on one side or it did while everything was in, but my last one in my old black nova i spent about half an hour getting it to sit perfectly:thumb:

Patience is the tool thats needed to fit them correctly!

I thought about trying to tuck the bottom in - I'll have a wee look about on Thurs and see what I can do

I'm not sure what I want, a digi dash or some analogue clocks and customise them hmmm one does ponder.

Digidash is smart - Just a pain that there not a straight forward fit and there quite innaccurate lol

GSi 6-dial clocks are smart and I'm keeping a hold of my set just incase

Heres two very poor pics of how the digi dash sat in my old black nova, ignore the cowling and steering column, failed theft attempt but thats not what youre looking at lol

is that the one that had the wiring issues? lol

Spudly

Nope it had attempted theft issues, had to rewire the ignition as they messed all the wiring up trying to find where the cat1 alarm tapped into the ignition wires lol

Looks decent at the fuel/battery side but the rev counter side is about the same as mine just sticking out that wee bit much

Might have a go at fixing it tomorrow since I'm off college

Heres how mine sits, it took me a while (well, a hell of a long time) but i got it perfect eventually:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC01476-1.jpg

I kept removing the dash, moving wires here and there to get it to fit.
Also, as said before dude, you can see in that pic the piece of plastic strip along the bottom off the old nova clocks, makes it flow with the top cowling perfectly :thumb:

I'll have a look tomorrow, I want it as neat as yours

Dave.

It is a pain in the **** but its possible
Worth mentioning too, mine doesnt have the middle screw holding it in place, as i found that with that in it made it sit too low, might be worth remving the screw and just palcing it in, mine is as solid as a rock with the cowling on :thumb:

Had a wee bugger about with it the day - Sitting a bit better I reckon it's as good as I'll get it without hacking the dash to bits

It does make the astra digi dash look cack don't it, I am doing it again to my current nova once I get the dash in.

vaughanmc
28-01-10, 10:32 PM
Hmm I'm not sure about that, would be smart with the original coloured bulbs in it

Astra GTE one looks factory but thats a nice touch!

vaughan, i had a look in mine tonight, and it sits the same as spudlys.

i havent cut anything of the dash, filed it or anything. only cut of the tabs.

what i remember from putting it in, in the metal tab on the dash on the left hand side, bend it towards you and then sit the dash behind it, and it holds it in place. be tough with it, but mind the corners as they crack easy, dont they aw06 :P

Got mine sitting a wee bit better today :) I'll take some pics tomorrow and show how it lines up
