I paid £100 for a C20NE for my Calibra when my old one lost oil pressure and seized. I got engine complete including gear box and all ancillaries so I wouldn't pay more than that for one!

Only the early MK3 Cav SRi's had the SEH (130PS), later ones had the NE (115PS) then eventually the red top XE for a short while before going to the ECOTECH.

I through one away a couple of weeks ago as I presumed it was worthless, lol shame you could of had it for free if you'd of know. Also why do you want a NE rather then a SEH? Turboing it?? As there lower comp then the SEH. Iirc.

See above, the OP is on about the SEH despite the title.

Id still have an NE though

We just sold an NE for £80 with gearbox, loom etc. SEHs rule. My Cav SRi and Nova both have SEHs and they're brilliant :)

NE is only worth putting in a Nova if you're thinking about turboing it as it's lower compression. SEH is the better engine if you want to keep it NA. 15 more BHP out of the box and should also have a f16cr mated to it.

Like Lynz has said, bulletproof engines, cheap to repair and maintain and go very well with good fuel economy if driven sensibly.

Is it the pistons that are different?

Nova_Tek

AFAIK the SEH has different pistons, different cam, higher compression and different ECU map to give it that extra 15bhp. Obviously the close ratio box helps acceleration. Apart from that everything is the same.

Taken from MK2CAV.com

What made the SRi 130 quicker than a standard SRi?

2 Bhp more than Astra GTE 2.0L due to better exhaust route
Revised Bosch Motronic Engine Management
Larger Intake valves & exhaust manifold
More compact combustion chamber shape
Bigger bore exhaust along the length
Shorter, lighter Pistons
Revised valve timing
Integrated, adaptive engine management & ignition system
Engine block both stiffer & lighter
Crank & con rods lightened
Friction loss cut by thinner piston rings & valve stems
New high efficiency oil pump & cooler in front grille.
Smaller water jacket for quicker warm up & enhanced pump.

Quite a lot of difference between the NE (Normal MK2 Cav SRi) to the SEH (SRi 130)
