Picture this: You finish university for the easter holidays and a mate from novaload says, fancy coming to look at nova with us and possibly driving it back if we buy it. I thought why not, it could be a laugh.... well heres what happened!

Woke up 9am, showered and set off from leighton buzzard to northampton to meet Matt, got there at 10am and then left for Rushdon to meet Bill (aka rustboy) met with Bill and hit the road for cambridge :D everything was going as planned, me and bill started to take matts car to bits interior wise while driving along. We cut up a few cars not really knowing where we were going but ended up in a random village nr soham to meet a guy called joe who was selling his uncles red nova spin.

After looking round the car and picking as many holes in it as was necessary we took it for a test drive. I drove it and thought it pulled very well, took it on an 8 mile or so drive and it was happy at 90mph, we made the guy an offer, paid for the car swapped documents and then decided we were hungry! So off we went to a random Burger King near the A14, pulled in and ordered our food and ate it........ wots the point you say. Well, it appeared the BK had rodeo type chairs which has bars like a prison on them, so pics were taken.........

We left BK and entered the car park and saw this

I think that RAC van was trying to tell us somthing in advance! Bill had a quick drive of the car in the carpark (he has no licence) he only stalled once how impressive, LOL

http://www.novaload.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?id=584

Off we went for the journey back to Rushdon, now matts car is 1.2 carb and this spin was 1.2 injection so we decided to see if the injection was after all worse than the carb, side by side up to 100mph, then suddenly the oil light came on, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, thats ok we thought, add some oil............... and some more.............. and some more............................ then we got 3 more miles and broke down in a laybay on the A428, this was to be our home for 4 hours!

http://www.novaload.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?id=586

The rocker cover gasket was crap and a spark plug had blown somehow

http://www.novaload.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?id=587

http://www.novaload.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?id=588

none of us had valid break down cover so we waited for bills dad, Bills dad doesnt understand directions very well and was within a 3 mile radious of us for 2 hrs, LOL!

While waiting to fix the nova we found time to sunbath and look at our surroundings. This included a random dead animal that appeared to have walked head 1st into an electric fence, OUCH!

http://www.novaload.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?id=589

I got so bored i fell asleep

http://www.novaload.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?id=590

Then bills dad arrived, we fixed the spark and gasket and found that it was actually the bottem end rattling like a bitch :( problem was we had 3 Litres to much oil, off we went burning the oil and making literally fog thick black clouds all the way for about 6 miles, then chugging the poor car back at 30mph to bills house.

Me and matt set off for northampton, then i went home and got in at gone 10pm..... wot a bloody day!

Shame you cant see the black smoke in this pic but this was us after being stuck for over 4 hrs!

Good luck with the car bill!

yeah it was "interesting" to say the least!!! My first drive over like 20 miles since i passed my test. I think its safe to say im gonna stick closer to home now!!!
There was lots of pissing in bushes mike and in fields, we just didn't show that or take pictures!!!
We took the engine out of the "rustboy shell" today. U lot might remember this shell it had a supposed 28k engine in it, surrounded by a 500k mile shell!! lmfao. The engine should be in the new shell within a week i would have thought.

Actually now u mention it, a part of the story will forgot to mention was that RAC make wank directions!!! we were directed down Station Road in summit cum quay whatever that place is called. went down this road it was like normal road, small road, single track road, dirt track. Then we were like ... hold on we aint meant to be down here. then we drove past this dodgy lookin inbred bloke who gave us an evil "royston vasey, you'll never leave" type look. We got to the end of this road with 3 houses in the middle of nowhere and realised we were lost lol.

Alrite lads, hope your having fun with the car Bill! Just a few things to clear up!

 Those girls weren't 15 they were 19 - i saw them in town the next day and my mate from work knows them... fine piece of ass i must say!

 Don't forget that incredibly fit lady with that nice short skirt when we first entered Burwell! And you thought she knew me... i wish!

 I was coming home from college coz you guys were about two hours early when i got a call saying you were down a 'quiet side road' taking a piss. I could see you from about 2 miles away - not only were you on a pretty main road, you were in the middle of a totally flat area of about 5sq miles - which meant everyone could see a bright white nova and two dudes pissing in a field next to it!

 The car was working fine when it left, must have ragged it a bit hard! Who won the race? Still a good project for the bargain price of ?270!

Still overall a pretty fun day, have to meet up again sometime! J 8)

car was working fine!?!!?

it looked like a blind edward scissor hands put the rocker cover gasket on after a piss up, an i hope that big ends and main bearings dont go that fast!!! we'd all be sitting on the side of the road for 5 hours if that was the case!!

do it again some time? yeah love to, sitting for 5 hours at the side of the a428 with a dead stoat/cat was a great laugh!!!

Rustboy,
If I were you I wouldn't be so mouthy about it. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal at ?270. Sure breaking down is a bummer, I've been there and got the t-shirt on that one, but just stop and think about it for a minute. On the previous page you've said on the test drive you ragged it up to 90mph, then on the way back it was ragging along at 100mph before it went tits up. Now come on, it's only a 1.2, and I know most people say there bullet proof, but do you honestly think an hour after buying the car is the best time to go testing that theory???
When I buy a car I get it home as easily as I can and give it a full service and a belt change before I would ever start ragging it. Might be something to bear in mind for the future!

Well said Chris, I was about to say something similar. I'm surprised you took it to that speed, there was no need to.

Kids these days

I've got lots of stories bout leccy fences.

Best laff tho was my Aunts pain in the arse sheep dog - it never did as it was told. One day it pissed off up the field ignoring my calls to come back. It stopped for a shite and stoopidly shoved its arse near the wire. It was half way thru when the turd touched the wire. Zapp!! I have never seen anything take off so fast!   Talk about laff - it was running round the field howling for about 5 minutes. I nearly wet meself!

Served it right - it hid in its kennel for about 2 days and never scarpered off up the field again!
