+rep mate!

It's a new breed of drivers. They seem to grow in numbers by the day!
They stare at you/blare the horn if you overtake too! lol

My favourites are the ones that then think this:
http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/photos/IMG_3017.jpg
Also means 40 on a single carriageway lol

edit: I mean those that do 40 no matter conditions/roads/whatever, not people doing 40 in a 30, I'd have lots to whine about if I couldn't stand that lol

In fact I once followed someone that did 30 in a national speed limit and then proceeded to increase to 40 in a 30mph zone lol

I bet they were scared on the national speed limit road and felt they could see better etc in the 30 so deemed it reason to speed up. lol

These are mostly the people that drive my least favourite type of car. Hyundai Amica/Vaux Agila/Suzuki Wagon R and those ghey crossover things, Quashqai, Kuga and also the crap little Korean hatches Piccanto and other names I gladly dont know! lol

It was a fairly open nat. limit and a blind corner into a parade of small shops/garages etc in the 30! lol See more than enough of people being scared in national limits though, braking for every corner at 35-40 no matter how slight isn't necessary really :p

there was a bloke in my estate yesterday, who when i got to a junction must of been doing 40+(in the built up estate), so i pulled out behind him and when we got to a national speed limit, he breaked down to 35, so i safely and politely overtook.... he took it upon himself to put his fogs and main beam on. lets just say he was nearly wearing my rear bumper when i slammed on lol

Conad, very similar happened to me a few weeks back. Except instead of main beam and fogs the guy put his foot down after I was slongside. I CBA with dropping a gear so I dropped back as there was a corner approaching also. I then overtook him when safe to do so on a straigh section of road.

He drew alongside me at traffic lights a couple of miles later and flashed a badge at me, off duty copper ffs.

Telling me I went for a dangerous overtake and would be reported etc. I politley told him he made it dangerous by putting his foot down and then when he was still shouting and balling I told him to give it a rest as there is nothing he can do - and to watch his own driving before commenting on others.

He wasn't happy. lol

one of my pet hates is the copper who thinks its funny to drive down the motorway at 65mph, and nobody except me will pass him.

when I'm driving a lorry, why does everyone always have to overtake me then slam on the anchors because its their turning.... because its a well known fact that an hgv can out handle an f1 car

another good one is the ' I'm not giving you eye contact because i'm cutting you up in a traffic queue' person. last year I was driving a john deere tractor with a low loader (35mph max, 55ft long) thru a town & 2 lanes went into 1 before a red traffic light and i was in front, then this coffin dodger came past me thru the no overtaking chevrons & tried to push in by a bollard. so I took the key out & climbed out and walked up to his window & asked him to back up because there was no space for me to reverse. he looked straight ahead & ignored me, so I yanked his door open & told him to bloody shift it. and still he wouldn't look at me, so I told him I was driving over his bonnet if he didn't shift it, and still he ignored me, so I asked his wife to tell the bloody idiot to shift it. that did the trick

The traffic wombles sit on the M5 all day doing 50-60mph causing massive tailbacks because people are too scared to overtake them. Instead of slipping in a lane as well, they (people waiting to overtake) sit in all three lanes blocking the road

i know a bloke who works traffic on a midlands force & they treat the highways patrols as vermin.. they even pulled one up & gave him a full workover, cos he had flashed his amber beacons at them as they passed, and that was actually illegal as they weren't on a call

we have a gatso on a 50mph limit single carriageway road with a weight sensor that flashes hgv's at more than 40mph.... that causes a few big braking moments

Thats annoying, there is a single carriageway near me with fixed gatso's along its length, and people drop to about 50mph, but there is a section where it widens to a dual carriageway and there is a single gatso on it, they dont half give you some mucky stares when they slow to 50mph again and you sail by at 70mph and not get flashed lol

I could write a book about this ****, a road near me goes from 60 into a 30, most people do 40 in the 60 and stick to 40 in the 30 which has clear 30 signs right at the entrance to the village. So one day I'm driving along and slow to 30, then get overtaken and stared at by come **** who seems to think that as there is no houses along said road its a 40 or more, even though there is two signs clearly stating 30

Fixed cameras are fine, it's the fcukers in speed vans on the 30 zones in the middle of nowhere that I don't like. If you get flashed by a big yellow box you were paying little enough attention to deserve it.

I almost agree with that. Some of the ones between Berwick-Edinborough are swines though.

Scamera vans are easily spotted. Look for flashing cars coming the other way. lol Any white van on a flyover means slow down also, especially if it has a massive tripod on the roof. lol

+1 to all the hating in this thread.

We've got lots of fixed cameras and scamera vans around here. Not all of the scamera vans are white, nor are they all full size vans.

We've got plenty of idiots that love to do 40mph everywhere. If I overtake them on the national limit then do 30 through a 30mph village they'll make a point of overtaking me as soon as we hit the next national, dropping back down to 40mph and being overtaken again, rinse repeat. lol

Same happened to me, but an off duty copper in a (cough) Yaris (cough) put his foot down and forced me to pull back in past him over double solid white lines, without him speeding up i would have been past well before the solids. He proceeded to follow me to my mates house, where he got out and flashed his badge so quickly i actually stopped his rant to ask to see his badge/I.D again, and realised he was some up-top copper with a long **** title and some clout. He tore a strip off me but I quickly let him know he had no case to report me, as he would have to admit to accelerating and causing a dangerous situation.

His parting words were "I live around here, I WILL be watching you" haha

Last thing my driving instructor said to me was "remember, everyone else on the road is an idiot", and she was right. Drive to accomodate the most idiotic of driving from everyone else at any given moment and you'll be fine.

there was an article in the commercial motor a few years back where a truck driver was pulled by the police whilst doing 40mph on a single carriageway road for holding up traffic, including the coppers themselves.

he asked the coppers what speed should an hgv do on a single carriageway road with a natioonal speed limit, and they didn't know.....

My main annoyance is on Grange road near me, the middle section is like a little B road, its usually quite a nice drive, unless you get some pillok who take the WHOLE 2 mile road at 30mph!! then turns left into the 30 zone and I swear that theyre flying off at 40 because I been shouting & flashing & beeping at them all down the road!

OR you have some turnip on a bike who waves at you to slow down when your already doing 50mph and being too lazy to get to 60. thats always a bit fun, saw them again later that day and this time I was doing 30 in a 30 zone, yet again got the same bloody wave!!

Fave was getting stuck behind a complete clot who thought doing 30mph in a 60 zone on a 10 mile bloody road was a fun thing to do, by the time hit the dual carriageway I just flicked him the V and drove off, needless to say he carried on doing 30.

another one that really annoys me is the motorcyclists that think they hav every right to pass you on any side they want, they can use left turn lanes to fly past you.

over time i've had a few real run ins.. i got undertaken in my old 1.6 nova on a roundabout by a lad on a 900... my god was he shocked when I got him under braking for the next roundabout.. 4 wheel drift never felt better....

the muppet on his ped who thought it was ok to use the rh lane on the roundabout to pass me & when I kept alongside him at his max speed of 50mph so he couldn't get back in, even when he tried kicking my door, then I went right at the next roundabout with him still there....

ps. i was driving an iveco cargo 7.5 tonner at the time

my other one was this bloke on the hinckley bypass on an old 750 that used the lh lane to undertake me at the lights, then when i caught him at the next roundabout, he still used the lh lane, so I chucked my touran into the roundabout, passed him & made him sit up a bit quick, all completely legally..& cut him off on the exit. it took him about 1/2 mile to get alongside me to complain...i swear very well

Highway code says:

236

You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.

Raining when it is dark does not count as seriously reduced visibility. It also states that in adverse weather you must use your headlights when visibility is below 100m and that you may also use your front and rear fogs but they must be swtiched off if visibility improves.

By heavy rain I guess I mean the stuff we have day in day out in this country. I've only ever driven a few times in heavy rain, on those occassions 20mph felt waaaay too fast!

/\ i've been in rain on the M1 so bad that i've pulled onto the hard shoulder and hidden under a bridge till it passed. when I drove trucks full time, motorway driving in the rain was what really scared me, followed by fog.. when it snowed, people drove like they should when it was foggy or really rainy.. i have seen people blast past me at about 100 with about 20m visibility.. then when there is a huge pile up, they always blame the lorry drivers & always use the lack of skid marks as proof that we are all asleep, instead of the fact that the crash happens too fast to react quickly enough
