Hi im hopefully going to be doing a few trackdays this year, im running pretty much a standard c16se, but iv been told that when flying fround fast corners the oil can slosh to one side in the sump and miss the pickup pipe.

Just wondered if anyone had and and past exsperiance with it.

thanks jack

On long corners it could happen, but trackdaynova's car had the standard sump setup.

Most track cars on here have standard sumps as far as i know.

The problem will be the same or similar for all cars without baffled sumps or dry sump systems. If you can get your sump baffled then that would help massively, but its not really worth doing unless you are running amazing suspension and slicks as you won't get the cornering forces needed to push the oil far enough...

on road tyres it won't be a problem. because you won't actually be cornering that much harder than on a decent road trip

I hope you have an mpi tank fitted, or a decent one with plenty of fuel in it.. my old 1.2 converted to injection used to suffer fuel starvation on fast right handers with lowish fuel

The engines are cheap enough to replace anyway, so Get driving it and put the money into Pads and disk's/better sus and tyres etc.

Yeh wasnt until my m8s corsa running a c20let with avo coilovers, whitleine anti-roll bars, full slicks etc. before we started seeing oil pick up problems which were pegged to the fact that the conering speeds were so much greater due to the set up.
I ran an XE nova for years round the track without any major problems.....

Exactly, cant see it being a problem unless the handling has been tweeked to the hilt!
Plus would say the olde 8v is a bit more bullet proof then an 16v ?

My can of worms was the small block vs big block handling debate, i.e you had no issues because XE's like to follow straight lines.

It's nowhere near as good when you have to explain it though :(

Sorry, my mistake! :tard:

Yes back to that old debate, each to their own but lets not go there lol lol

yes thats true, i will be running gaz coilovers, continetal tyres, v6brakes with braded lines and fully stripped out with two buckets:thumb:

Use a sump from a 1.6 16v - they ae baffled as standard.

sounds good. but are they dead the same because if they was different slightly wouldnt the oil read on the dipstick be wrong:roll: ?

Its a common 'mod' for the rally chaps - and they manage OK.

No... if you had a sump 6 foot deep it'd still need to read the same on the dipstick as it relates to the oil pickup position.

edit: I suggest not using one 6 foot deep though, it'll scrape.
