View Full Version : XE conversion bonnet wont shut

Hi,

FItting an XE to my nova, I have added the rear spacer mount and spaced the front gearbox mount off the gearbox, but now the bonnet wont shut.

Seems to sit level as per the pics but really confused. any help would be appreciated.

The gear box mount was a ******* to get on but seems to be fine and the gearbox seems to sit in theright place.

even moving the mount down does not help!

looks familiar lol! however im unsure the gearbox end looks high? there was no bonnet on the sr when i bought it drivers side looks high aswell though? where does it hit?

cam pulleys on the bonnet. i have just moved the mount down one and the bonnet shuts now but kinda looks like it sits on the piss.

All the mounts were a ******* to get on to be honest.

That looks like a front engine mount for fitting an XE into an 8v Corsa shell. Looks longer than any Nova one i've ever used.

that fron engine mount does look rather od to me aswell

i did think that, i sold him the car and engine as a job lot, but as i said the car was colleted with no bonnet?

its a corsa front mount thats were its all gone tits up for you mate the nova ones have 3 holes so you can position them at the right height

sell yours and buy a nova one or swap it for one etc :thumb:

cool, I might for the mean while as it is only first fit in the bay elongate the three holes in the block side as I got some room and see if that would work. Now it explains why the other mounts were such a ******* to fit.

The gearbox side looks ok tho?

i do apologiese lol but thats how she came out the sr? want some more pics of HAE!

Can't get the gearbox side wrong, its a standard Nova mount.

yeah but the mount being a corsa one does explain why all the mounts were really hard to fit!

this is the latest pic. colour is a bit dark here. aint got many more photos, still got loads of welding to do on the back so just trying to get then engine in and the bay sorted then a shed load of bodywork then I will paint the car!

I'm with Lee, it doesn't look like a nova mount. ( i have an m-tech one in my xe stuff ad)
