Nice pics Vaughan,

Whats that nasty black stuff on the inner arch on your Mk 1 ??

Nope it's overpaintable underbody sealant stuff like Gravitex or Schutz :)

Waxoyl will be pumped into the doors, sills, back 1/4's etc once it's painted

Not tried painting over it yet no - Probably do all the inner arches with the black underseal with a brush so I can get loads up in the back wheelarch lips etc then paint it with red Hammerite

But I'm going to do the floorpan with a gun :)

Andy

It never properly dries is the problem. Its rubbish stuff for what you pay.
When you paint onto it the black mixes with the colour and well......you can imagine the rest.....

vaughanmc
21-01-10, 03:13 PM
Aye I know what you mean - I done the passenger side last week and it seems to have dried but I know what you mean it stays tacky

Maybe a primer over the top of it to seal it in ? Then red Hammerite ?

Andy
21-01-10, 03:17 PM
try stonechip over the top of it or summat. You can paint straight onto that

vaughanmc
21-01-10, 03:19 PM
I'll see how the drivers inner wing drys out - Seems to be dry where I done it last week, doesn't seem tacky or anything

Overpaintable stuff as well I bought

It's a very good place to keep the cars this bit :) Very well priced too

Cars are very well secured and the area is surrounded by CCTV lol

vaughanmc
21-01-10, 05:05 PM
Well there is the 3 Nova's in that lockup shown here - Greg's silver Nova lives in his garage, my red Mk2 lives outside on my runway plus we have my big garage out the back where more Nova s*it is kept plus the orange Nova that we both share too :)

£15 a month is a bargain. I just paid 6k for a lockup round the corner from my house and I thought i was lucky as they usually sell for 7.5k+.

vaughanmc
21-01-10, 09:01 PM
£6k for a lockup ? I'm guessing it's yours for life then ?

grooge
21-01-10, 09:10 PM
aye, I'll be holding on to it, I waited around 2 years to get it and turned down a few others that were more expensive. considered renting it out until october (when my insurance and mot run out), previous owner got 80 a month for it and I've seen people getting 100.
buying a garage in west end would be even worse, saw a few go for around 15k!!! mental.

Great little lock-up that dude. £15 a month with electricity and tools etc is an absolute steal! Fell on your feet there :thumb:

Nice wee set up you have there, for £15 its a fair bargain! Is your mate still selling the purple GTE or is he now keeping it?

vaughanmc
27-03-10, 03:41 PM
Not a clue mate - He was out at a trackday at Kames with it today

Phoned and said 'It can shift' so who knows what he's doing with it now lol

NovaLad

The garage at the end of my yard when empty is a decent size and that's worth about 5k so your 6k lockup is cheap!

vaughanmc
16-06-10, 10:40 PM
A wee before and after for the purple Nova

Greg's dad painted the whole car in the workshop and I painted the front and back bumpers and 2 mirrors

Not a bad job for doing it on the cheap; Before:

After:

Some difference :)

That's a fair change, not bad for being painted in a workshop.

vaughanmc

muzzy
16-06-10, 10:48 PM
Is it going to be doing any hillclimbs or anything like that?

vaughanmc
16-06-10, 10:49 PM
No idea what's planned for it cheif - Probably will be getting ragged round Kames etc
