is the box electronic speedo drive or mechanical
dont know how do i find out?
the guy i bought it from has put his own clocks in and took out all the normal clocks, and he said i would have to connect it to the wheels to get it to work does this sound right? cheers.

I found my digidash had problems keeping up. If I gave it full in 2nd or 3rd it was just give up and start half reading.

sounds like its an electrical box then. Where the linkage is on the box is there a speedo cable going in the box?
ill have a look tomorow. what dash would you advise getting them, calibra clocks or soemthing?
cheers.
ive found some calibra turbo clocks on ebay but someone has asked and he says they are mechanical not electronic, would i not be able to use them then. cheers.

You can see the speedo drive in this pic (black bit in the middle of the curve on the linkage)

If you've not got anything to attach on the box there there's very little you can do vaux wise to get a set of clocks working easily. Would be easier to source a mechanical box or just rely on your tom tom or road angel reading.
cheers for the pic mate. im going to have a look at mine tomorow and see if i can compare. might have to take it to a garage to do it then. complicated stuff aye. :(

I had one yeah.
Basically on the mechanical drive boxes there is a hole in the gearbox for a spindle to go into it. As the gears spin it turns the spindle. Your speedo cable plugs onto this spindle.
The electronic boxes don't have this hole or spindle and the speed signal is taken from elsewhere.
Has your f28 got a quaiffe diff fitted? If it hasn't I'd save your money and wait til a mechanical f28 comes up for sale with a diff. As an example Anthony on migweb is selling one for £600. Not sure if its sold now tho. You can then do a box swap and a good upgrade at the same time.
Ah right.
Well ill have to check tomorow. just need to look for that hole in the black bit im guessing, hope its there.
Otherwise im just giong to have to find an electronic speedo.
cheers for your help mate!
