see i dont get why there is such a range of prices. can pay upto about £45 for a 30m cable and yet you find them for a fiver on ebay. what can the difference between them be?

It's down to the speedo of your hub. I don't want to bore you/confuse you really lol A usual Ethernet Cable ranges from a 10Mbps transfer to over 100Mbps. I don't know the Xbox range but that Ethernet wire looks like they have made it for the purpose you require though.

well my hub has a transfer rate of 100mbps but then my internet connection is no where near that obviously, but then because my tinternet isnt the best i do want to be making it worse with a sheet cable

99.9% of ethernet cables will be fine upto 100M.

so imho any will do. It will either work or not work. Done.

Here's a 30m CAT5e cable and probably looks better after reading the reviews. CLICKY (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cat5e-RJ45-Ethernet-Network-Cable/dp/B000IAHNRK/ref=pd_cp_ce_1)

Also here is a explanation into the differences of Ethernet CLICKY (http://www.cat-5-cable-company.com/faq-ethernet-history.html)

The abuse I put some cat5 cable through (left outside in the rain for 12 months + pulled throguh brickwork/conduit/had it in sheer for ages in the shed etc) and it still works fine over a 30M run then anything should be fine lol

We make our own ethernet cables up at work out of any old cable laying around and crimped ends, most of the time I then spend tripping over said cables when they're all over the floor and pulling the ends out of servers. Yet they do the job.

Prices differ mainly as sellers think if people buy expensive cable it "must" be better quality lol.

Plus the expensive ones are funky coloured. lol

Burgo, if its xbox to a hub/router remember it needs be a standard "straight" cable and a not a crossover.
