View Full Version : Breaking a nova ? is it worth it ?
As title lots of my friends and friends of friends lol are interested but a few are sh1t talkers and others want just the rolling shell, So im wondering will it be worth it to strip the nova and sell in parts or sell it as a standered car and sell the aftermarket bits ?

it has to be above a base model IMO
well decided i cant be fuked with insurance companys so not going to bother driving for a while :(:cry: so selling all car bits and the nova's going. just trying to decide whats best way to do it.

Depends much you want back....I'd get a moped, use that and then work on the nova getting it exactly the way you want...
Example much would you get for;
Shell with Glass, shocks, springs, fuel tank etc
Wheels
Engine
Maybe 750 or 850?
Much would it sell as a whole - maybe 1k? Is it MOT'd and Taxed

Have a look at his WIP thread - Chassis legs are plated to feck etc and Moffat said it needed back arches...

Depends how you go about selling it really.
I made a killing of mine, not necessarily profit, just made nearly every penny back it & its predesessor owed me.
Doing well if you can give away a shell atm, as Lee H proved a little while ago, and euro sbd had trouble shifting the one I got off him for months (when I bought it there was 3 people interested, but it took a while)
it's still here taking up room. The fact its legit on the logbook put most people off I think!

Vaughan you're asking too much, you can get a mint four-shades-of-white Nova for only £200 more.
Nova's are very rare up here and someone is always looking for one got probs 10+ people interested.

sell as as one if you dont want the hassle , i sold my white 3 door k reg 1.2 gsi front ,lowered, alloys , sr leathered interior, electric windows,digi, tax and m.o.t for a year only rust was rear quarter next to the fuel cap £700

The thing is, I can go out now, buy a really tidy xe nova (Graeme Dixons) Old one, I know he did the conversion, but I could live with that lol
For £300 more than he wants for a 4 colored shed?
Just strip it, and scrap the shell, Novas are disposable sheds, Im not bothered what anyone says, for the amount of people on here that have killed them, I mean I killed one on a filed at 14, had tax and test aswell lol

its only worth what people are willing to pay imo i would advertise is for decent offers and see what you get offered £400 for a shell aint bad lol considering thats what my jag cost me with 11 months mot and 5 months tax lol
I had trouble shifty my structurally mint & near on bodywork mint shell for £500 chap.
Only reason i did managed to sell it was because of the people I know who build rally cars.

Just stating the truth mate, I don't know how you could ask £1200 or whatever for a base model Nova with a £50 interior and £100 engine and a shell that's had every panel welded plus the chassis legs plated up to death
But as I've said before 10/10 for rebuilding it mate, I'd have scrapped it long ago :)

tbh that widearch shell has a funked wide arch that he's asking £300 for, as it has tax and mot... but it's not got an engine or seats in it so it's hardly a jump in and drive away job is it. Bad example of a fair point.

You know what i just read all that, and this is my conclusion.. OK so the lad didn't help him self much, and his car was/is not the best structurally OK..
BUT is there any need for some of the **** that he got from some regular users/members, is there any need full stop, some times this forum really makes me sad that we call our self a "CLUB" as most the time we seam to be at war with each other, theres too much hate for people with Nova's, so people who have Nova's should not hate each other.

Just stick all your parts left over in Scotads, if for any reason the sale falls through with the shell then put that in as well. As long as its not useless crap then if its for a Nova then it will sell. Everything i've put in has sold within a week or two. You could probably get £500 for the car standard if you put it in the paper for that money or maybe a bit more.

I'm well aware of this but others are to lazy as I said just after the section you highlighted.
and vaughan I know of a fair few aswell but most are projects, or lying in garages with owners that that are car enthususiasts and know what they are worth. These don't come up for sale very often and when they do they're generally snapped up straight away. Very few kicking about on the road from what I see anyway.
