lol. The MG used to be cool. I remember a mates older brother having his showing 150mph on the talking digital brummie dash when I were a nipper.

I wonder why the Chinese stuck the front of a Maestro on it. They're both ugly. lol

Jack

Chinese have a habit of ripping off western cars. Thought they would have chosen a decent one though lol

yup there used to be a white mg that went to york and was running 11 second standing quarters, but he then put the engine in a rover 200 numpty lol

there ugly as feck which is why i like them brick aero dynamics but can be made to shift not too dissimilar to a nova lol

Think I seen that one run at York. Very quick car! lol @ engine in a 200. FOOL!

Shame they only came with 12 doors though. Do you remember the BRG one with DV from one of Clarksons videos that one donuts around him?

Also who remembers the white or yellow Montego turbo that had 'THE FULL MONTY' down the side in what looked like brush paint?

It was always in the back of one of the mags, Max i think advertising a tuning company.

Jack, they never ripped it like we know them to. They bought the tooling from Longbridge legit. lol

Jack

Longbridge, tools?

There's a joke there somewhere lol

Aye a place called Ledbury is where the 'kit' Maestros were assembled. Rumour has it they are just leftovers from Longbridge. I assume the shells were already welded at the factory.

That explains the M/N reg ones and people like your dad Peg. lol

The Ledbury reason is how I found that page lol. I wanted to remember the place name for the 'sought after' ones.

maestros actually handled really well & went quite quick.. but they were really ugly.. I had one for a year & it was actually really good.

the cowley works actually had maestro estates & montego vans & pickups

It is bloody ugly, but all the best cars are (hmmmmm.... maybe not, but anyway, what the hell). I've got a mate with a rally-equipped two litre MG Maestro and it's great fun.

Austin Rover MG Maestro Turbo?! Are you guys nuts? Those things are SH!T!

My dad's tame mechanic used to have a customer who bought one (this was back in the late 80s or early 90s or something). EVERY TIME I went to the garage - quite often back then - the car was in there with the engine in bits. The mechanic spent all day moaning about it lol

Worst car EVAR. I wouldn't have one if you paid me. Well, yes I would, then I'd push it off a cliff.

Couldn't comment on the drive/reliability of any of these as I have never owned one. Tried to find an MG Maestro a few years back and was amazed at how thin on the ground they had become. lol
