Admiral
We are unable to provide a quote for you because of the following reasons:

We are unable to insure the driver with the unacceptable conviction history

That sort of history you are going to be looking at high premiums...

Have a you tried HIC or Adrian Flux? There used to be a young driver's insurance a few years ago.

BTW, How at 17, have you got 3 convictions and 6 points? I'm supised you even have a license.

You do realise 6 points within your first 2 years is a ban, so I can only assume you'll be banned as soon as you get it, no?

Dont worry my family and friends are also confused about that, i have 6 points but still can get/have a licence.

Now ring proper insurance company's.

Jack
18-01-10, 08:49 PM
^ aye, ring round. TBH with that history you'll be very lucky to get insurance on anything under a grand, and certainly not under £1500 on a Nova.

I believe you can have 6 points on your license prior to taking your test (I'd guess the 6 points would go straight on as soon as you get the provisional), but as soon as you get the slightest whiff of any more points, its instant revocation.

Yeah I looked it up after he said, I'd always assumed you picked up your license they gave it to you to hold for a second then took it back again lol

Ok since i got caught driving on xmas day ive done laods of research, cos im in a similar boat to you now and i think ill either get 6 points or be banned.

If you get 6 points within the first 2 years of driving or having a provisional license your NOT banned, you lose your license and have to re apply for one which costs 50 pounds, and re sit any theory or test you took.

Now, if i get 6 points for driving while uninsured which is what some police person said to me on the phone..

I did an insurance quote and the cheapest i could get was 2,800 pounds.

But if i get insured with my dad as 1st drive and me as 2nd it will cost well under a grand.

because i was messing around with the insurance thing saying i had points for different things, and if i had points for driving while uninsured then i only added 40 pounds ontop of my insurance.but if i get done for wreckless driving its going to add about a grand ontop.. so all depends what your points are for.

Don't forget unroadworthy vehicle, driving with no licence or MOT and whatever other charges they throw at you Lewi.

Like I said at the time, only coming away with 6 points will be a very good day for you considering.

If you front the insurance on your dads policy and there is an incident while you are driving, its up to you to prove its your dads car, not the other way around. You could end up being more screwed than you are.

L14MNP
19-01-10, 01:27 PM
That's a very good point Dan. Is that with modifications declared Lewi?

Ihope so. If it is they won't believe it's not your car (especially as it will be in your name?) any sign of an accident and they will be on you to prove you only drive it part time.

Not to mention insurance companies share information with each other, so they may already know you have quotes for it with apolicy in your name.

LEWI007
19-01-10, 05:32 PM
I had to put the car in my dads name to get it back.

And no thats with no mods declared and on 3rd pary only.

And even saying i had a job and the car was worth 2000 pounds and i only do 5000 miles a year made it a bit cheaper.

The only way that nova is getting into an accident is if someone crashes into ME, ive had enough of driving like a c0ck.

Welsh Dan
19-01-10, 05:36 PM
Easier said than done chap. If it worked that way there wouldn't be any accidents.

LEWI007
19-01-10, 05:41 PM
Yeah theres alwayc the chance that i will have an accident, but after ive painted the car im going to be super careful with it.

Thats if i dont get banned and have to wait ages before i can drive it anyway :(

19-01-10, 06:13 PM
yeah as everyone else has said this year your screwed but next year and the year after won't be to bad. one of my mates got done for the exact same thing and also got six points. his insurance was high the first year but dropped a lot each year and was roughly the same as everyone else after 3 years. Assuming it was your mates car you were driving, did he get a ban?

General Lee
19-01-10, 06:29 PM
only thing to get that down, is not to drive it for a while, get a scooter or something small, then after a year some insurance companies see it as a years no claims.
