ok, for £200 i can gewt either a :

tigra 1.6, 43k no docs but runs ok.

or

vectra b 2.0 16v, 55k fsh runs fine.

what would you fit. no "xe/redtop it" comments. ta very much.

this is going in a nova, i dont mind the work of the bigblock tbh done them before.

also if i fit a 4 branch, chip and cams to a 2.0 eco whatsd the best i can hope for? is 150bhp unreasonable?

burgo
18-01-10, 01:33 PM
the 1.6 obviously

18-01-10, 01:34 PM
Valver it :d :p

4 branch chip and cams may see you 150 as they're 138 or something as standard I think.

And if I was going to buy either of these engines I would go for the one that returns the most MPG but can also be fun when wanted.

2.0 eco. Great engines, just in the shadow of the C20XE.
1.6XE is great for its displacement however & probably cheaper to tune.

2.0L imo.

id be different and go for the ecoreck

Rich
18-01-10, 01:54 PM
they are both valvers and are both ecowrecks??

for the cost id just use the 1.6, otherwise i would leave both and get a 20xe or v6

Local lad is running a 1400 at over 215bhp, they're an awesomely strong engine!

(in a rally car, with a propper build)

I say the 1600!

Paul
18-01-10, 03:11 PM
i dont understand why you dont want to C20XE it?

If your trying to be different, well both of them have been done before, so your not being different.

You can get a proper XE for a few quid more than £200. more tuning parts readily available, more know how etc etc.

har de har burgo, and jack there is already one gay blue 2 dr v6 on here ;)
paul its not bout being different its just the fact that i like the later engines.
plus there is a vec 2.0 on upullit for £150 for the full car. that gets me everything off it i want, so a load of other bits to ebay and make my cashback with. and i know i have the correct chip and keys etc with it.

Sloth
18-01-10, 05:49 PM

buy both 1.6 for the nova cheaper to fit than the 2.0 and cheaper to tune due to the abundance of options for it

get the 2.0 for the cav

ausi version of the nova was a corrolla iirc

Well this is what i think

you said you get the engine and bits for 200 notes yeah?
But then you said you want to cam, chipped ecu, exhaust etc?

That gonna be getting quite expensive for either of them engines.

Now within that price range (or a little bit more) you can pick up a 2.5 v6 engine.

v6 sound (hmmmmm v6666, homer simpsion impresion)

2.5 v6 with cams out of the 3.0 v6 is pushing near enough 200bhp anyway. Save yourself some pennies and have 50 bhp more yes please. Of course everyone's going to say "yeah it weigh's quite a bit more."

However

The v6 engine weigh's about 8kg more then an xe (around about that.) The problem is the handling because of the extra 3 cylinders over the front axle. However you did state you wantted to take it up the strip (no corners) Drive it to meetings (sensibly round corners) So in my eyes its a WIN.

or be different, v6 turbo charged mid engine rwd. Wowzor i would love one if only i had the knowledge :)

id be dropping the 2.0 in

Adam
19-01-10, 09:26 PM
Dont forget tuning bits for a 2.0 eco are expensive new, and very rare to come across 2nd hand.
Why not just stick a std 2.0 in? Its going be quicker than the 1600
