Corsa B ''PROJECT'' C14se Sri Rep

Well bought a Corsa yesterday to run through the rest of winter so I could clean my Nova up, Its a Corsa Swing fitted with a C14se engine and box out of a SRi and has a stainless cat back + GSi interior.

I was impressed when I got there, looked fairly clean and had never been welded and was nearly rot free (bar one small section on the sill). Towed it home and then things turned sour!
Tuck the car for a spin and it lost drive!!! First i thought it were the clutch then it became clear it as final drive related... As everything looked ok from the outside I decided to wip the engine and box out ( wouldn't of bothered but the car was a nice example and I wanted to save it from the crusher )

Got the lump out and relised what had happened, turned out the last 5 mm of the drive shaft had broke and was wedge in the planet gear in the diff thus stopping drive.
I guess the drive shaft was not in all the way and when it was in lock it had come out enough to put all the load on the last 5mm (seems they only drive on around 12mm of planet gear anyway)!

So while its apart am going to fit a new clutch, cambelt and head gasket and paint everything up nice.

I tuck all the engine out today, sanded the bay and painted. Will hopefully get engine in next weekend.

Very happy with results so far, will clean up engine and bloke in the week and paint.

Plans are to get SRi badges, bump strip, spoiler, colour coded wing mirrors, Corsa 1.4 Si badge (basically everything to make it look like and original from the outside)
And then register it as a 1400 :thumb:
Should hopefully be on the road in a month then i can have a clean and tidy corsa :D

Should have just gone the whole hog mate and just unbolted everything for painting while the engine was out. Good luck with it though :)

Right well when I got home today I degressed the block and wirebrushed it. Then gave it a lick of VHT Red Lacquer...

Head on, spent ages cleaning the cam cover with thinners as it had been painted white and looked terrible, as you can see the original colour is in perfect condition!

Needs some gear oil putting in and and the gear linkage setting up, Runs and drives though!!

Update, fitted my new spoiler and bump strips, has made a huge differenc to the looks of the car :D
