2.5 is most common from what ive seen but either engine is just as easy to use there physicaly about the same but with different inlet pleniums but it wont be an easy conversion into a nova ask rj he has a saab 3.0 in his

I would opt for the 2.5 as the inlet plenum on the 3.0 is a bitch to modify to fit under the bonnet. if you look at RJ's we still had to hike the bonnet up at the back to get it to shut.

a 2.5 with 3.0cams is almost 200bhp anyway, so not much difference

are the 2.5 170 bhp (well meant to be), and is there any car thats best to get them from or are they all the same?
sorry for all the questions.

thanks

Plus the 2.5 is a LOT more common - just look on ebay, there will be a whole bunch of 2.5s on there, as well as in terms of donor cars (the 3.0, you're restricted to an Omega or if you're very lucky a Saab).

2.5 is also cheaper too, a £100 budget could net you one on a good day, where as the few 3.0's I've seen tend to go for considerably more due to the 2.5 owners wanting them for conversions lol

2 of my mates have got v6 corsas. 1 of them is a 3.0 and the other is a 2.5 with 3.0 cams in and there just as quick as each other. 1 of them said its something to do with having to use a 2.5 cav inlet manifold on the 3.0 restricts the engine a little bit.

i am not saying this is factual info, just what i got told so i thought id share it. correct me if im wrong though.

yeh someone was talkin about 2.5 v6 tuning a few days ago, said similar thing about the inlet and cams being the biggest restrictions, exhaust somewhat too.

i wouldnt advise the transplant tho sav, 2.0 16v is a tight enough squeeze, let alone a v6

yeh I think a well built c20xe is on the cards now, probably on bike carbs, I jus cant see me getting the V6 strong or balanced enough to throw round a track.

More room than an XE surprisingly

Its only the front that is a squeeze, down to the front bank hanging over the crossmember. Remember its only 3 cylinders wide, not 4; and doesn't have an inlet hanging off the back like the 20XE does.

Yeh but its also the cost of ITB, if I went for them I could end up spending more that what you could get a good let for, you can get similar power out of carbs if set up right and for alot less.

I used my special tool, I call it Lee lol

Fitting it was actually the easy part, as the donor car was a Nova so the hard bits (front mount and exhaust manifolds) had been bodged already. As said previously in other threads the other mounts are the same as the XE, and its easier to get in the bay as its smaller lol

The only thing that held us up was the wiring, as we had issues with the immobiliser which delayed us a bit, but aside from that it wasn't too hard I guess.
