Now the weather is better and the snow has melted, I decided to jump start the Nova and take a video of the miss firing problem

Still runs sweet under about 0.75 bar then sounds like its running on three cylinders and looses a bit of power. (burbling sound)

Here is the quick vid I made

Anyone any ideas?? :thumb:

Cheers!

Jonathan.

what fuel pump are you running ???

when was the last time you changed the rotor arm and dizzy cap

do you have an eml light come on or flash up when you have the miss fire

last time the lambda sensor/crank sensor was replace ????

Standard one I think? It was ready built when I bought it.

Ran fine for about 6 weeks up until i took it to a garage that replaced the gear linkage.

ever since then, its had the missfire so I dont know whether they knocked a pipe off or if its just a coincidence .

tried changing the plugs but the original ones looked fine.

the new ones i put it I forgot to gap them, think they were .8mm.

I have a feeler guage now so will gap them. Dont think its that though :(

There is no engine managment light flashing at all.

did notice there was a bit of smoke when it missfires like that coming out the back.

Unfortunately I don't know when they were last replaced if I only bought the car a couple of months back?

Just gapped the plugs to 0.6mm and its EXACTLY the same so it aint that :(

Damn!!!!

Somebody also mentioned coil packs or a worn turbo that could be blowing oil into the engine??

My old Nova.

Plugs, leads and coil were changed in April 09.

iirc it's running a calibra fuel pump. standard

I never had to change the dizzy or rotor arm.

Same with lambda sensor.

Hope this helps Jon.

Ok, good news, the miss fire is nearly cured!

I just gapped the plugs properly and its now nearly sorted.

It does pop a bit now and again but I can live with it for now.

Still could do with a bit of a tune, but it seems to go like stink now, even quicker than before!

Cheers Rick,

Seems almost okay now, might change the dizzy / rotor just as a matter of course as it isnt much.

Just wondering if I invested in mega iridium plugs it might iron out the odd missfire that occurs now.

:)

Well I have NGK BCP7EVX that are brand new and gapped...

could Bcr8es being colder, make it less likely to miss fire?

Noooo Im not one of them! :)

Anyway,

Seems the missfire was fine today, but then got worse when the weather was colder (at night).

Defo the colder, denser air is making it worse.

Its like maybe the extra boost of cold weather is blowing out the spark?

Anyone know what Denso Iridiums to buy? Might try some top dog plugs to see if its that.

Cheers,

Jonathan.

Just looked at your video on youtube, theres no way I would have been directing any nasty comments at you as I cant see anything wrong except for the odd other tit commenting.

I was probably aiming the abuse at the dude commenting as thats what I normally do!
