i won a stereo on ebay and the description never mentioned any damage and when i recieved it it was clear it was prised from the dash using a flat head screwdriver which has distorted the facia. also was packaged in bubble wrap and a plastic bag (yep no cardboard box) so a bottom rear corner had been pushed in and its close the the circuit board so i havent tried to power it up. also some buttons feel really **** like the facia is pulled out so they dont reach the internal switches. where do i stand as far as a refund as the p+p was £10 and will cost me £7.50 to courier back in a box. so i ll be £17.50 out off pocket if only the item is refunded not postage.

wait afew days & open a dispute, Email the seller thou the dispute. If they wont give you a refund. Turn the dispute into a claim. ebay should then rule in your favour & your get a refund via paypal.

finally this was his reply to my first email:

Hi, sorry to hear your disapointed, i packed the stereo exactly the same way as it was when i received it, which i thought was satisfactory. As for damage i did not see any on it when i had it thats why its not mentioned, you can see by the history i only had it a week or so, as soon as i found it did not fit, i relisted it. You haven't mentioned if it works or haven't you triedit yet? Is it possible to send me some pictures of the damage, so i can see for myself,

ive had problems with ebay recently. if you open a dispute they will take the money off him and he can not do anything about it, however you will not get back the postage cost of sending it back to him you will get back what you paid in the first place. he then has to say when he has recieved it back if he doesnt within a certain time paypal will check with the courier and tracking number you give them and when it says delivered paypal will issue a refund and he cant do anything about it.

Once returned if he wants it back, He has to refund you the amount you paid in postage. You paid for an item that was faulty your not at fault over this so he is liable for the return costs. If written clearly in the dispute ebay will rule in your favour & your get the return postage cost as well. I've done it ;)

Unless he bails from eBay/Paypal! Then you're stuck.

He can close his account/remove bank details/transfer funds whilst there is no dispute open. Be quick!

Saying that, he sounds like a right tool so probably can't even do that. lol

Even if he closes acount & removes all details. your covered by paypal protection so they still pay out. thats the great thing about paypal.

I'm no fan of Paypal. None at all.

Been ripped a fair few times by unscrupulous sellers and very rarely has a dispute opened by me gone in my favour despite providing all required information.

They're only too happy to take money from me though if some ar$e decides to break an item whilst fitting it/exchanges it for their broken crap and then tells PP I supplied it.

I refuse to accept it anymore. Don't even get me started on the jew tax!

That's the sh!t thing agbout Paypal.

Not had a problem with them as yet. Had 4 disputes open over xmas & all 4 I got my money back on. One of the item I won in november turned up last week. I must admit the charges are pretty high.

Been buying from China? lol

I'm glad you've had no issues with them. Do you sell much? If so, give it time. :(

The charges used to be bearable, but they take the p!ss now IMO.

It would be more if not for my 'cancel transaction' trick with trusty buyers.lol

I never used to have any qualms about paypal til the fcukers took their cut on my charity auction.

Ebay were good enough to waive their fees on the auction (100% proceeds to charity) but paypal still took their cut. Wasn't much but still amounted to a good few quid of the final value.

(For those who don't know how payment a charity auction works, basically the money goes to you then MissionFish - ebay's charity program - collects the funds from your paypal after a month or so OR you can manually pay the amount direct. I received £77 as paypal took a £3 cut, but still had to pay £80 to MissionFish. I don't mind paying the extra, in fact I'd happily pay more for the cause, but the fact Paypal were ballsy enough to still take their cut in the first place is a bit naff)

Looks pinched, Damage is just slightly obvious, not something that could have been missed if the guy owned it!!

I would open an eBay dispute sharpish & get cash back through them, they could open a criminal case about it because it really does look stolen........ double check the serial numbers are still there!!

still no responce from the seller but as it was a good price im keeping it but leaving negative feedback, so i removed the bottom cover and tested it and works just the buttons were a bit rubbish. so i took the front off and seperated the plastic from the metal frame and heres my panel beating results.
