View Full Version : xe conversion alternator belt

evening all
does anybody have size and part numbers for the belt needed its got the v-belt pulleys tried a 1.2 one but it was a fair bit short tried tieng string round them and took the into the local motor factors but they dont want to know unless i have a make and model its for :confused:

Go in Halfords with your 1.2 belt and just get a longer one. Cant remember what mine was off, think it may have been a 1980s VW or something like that.

try a local Bearing/engineering supplies place (yellow pages). they will have loads of off the shelf vee belts to measure up with.

Would it not just be an early type xe belt? are you running original pulleys?

It should just be a bog standard XE alternator belt.

Just go to Halfrauds & look on their list for Astra / Calibra 2.0 16v.

The bottom pulley aint moved & unless you have modified the alternator brackets etc the alternator is in the origonal place Vauxhall intended it to be, then a std XE belt is what your after.

ask for an astra gte 16v 88 belt

its a late type coil pack engine ive fitted an early xe v-belt bottom pulley as mine was multiy ribbed plus its the later type alternator as well i just swapped the pulleys on it as it was the ribbed type as well

the belt in my previous post is what you need to ask for mate you have same set up as my let and thats all i ever ask for when i need one
