Just recently bought a white mk2 nova GSi replica, started life off as a 1.0 carb, now its got a 1.6 8v on carb out of an old astra and its got what I believe to be a set of SRi clocks in (white and black with rev counter).
The fuel gauge reads wrong because when its empty its reads half, I think the speedo is telling me im going faster than I actually am and another thing is the temp gauge, its either running quite cool or thats just reading wrong aswell.
the rev counter works fine though.

any help much appreciated.

thanks

Fuel gauges on those style of clocks are pretty poor - Saying that my GSi 6-dials were fairly accurate

I reckon the engine temp should run just above the quarter mark on the gauge ?

Also your speedo should be about 5mph out I.E 30 mph reads 35 on the clocks etc

If you've changed the wheel the speedo will read wrong, get sat nav in the car car and you can check it against that.

I might just try and get hold of another set to see if there the same, its not too much of a problem but I would rather it be right.
thanks for your help.

yeh good idea, did you mean wheels?? its just got a set of 15's on, that shouldnt throw it out too much should it?

My 15's had mines out by about 5MPH as I said above...Quite normal for it to do that though :)

Same with my Digidash I have fitted now, it's about 4MPH out with 15's

Well alot of Nova's came with 13" so yes.

okay no worries, ill check with a sat nav, as for the fuel gauge though im hoping its an easy fix.

Try another gauge mate, my GSi clocks have a working gauge from a TD Nova and it works fine :)

That could be a worn out sender in the tank..

9 times out of 10, its the sender, not the clocks!

Mine also runs just at the top of the blue on the temp!

And 30mph on the clocks is 24mph on shatnav for me:thumb:

That's abit cold really...

Iknow, but when its sat, it rises slowly to the middle, and the fan kicks in!

So theyre pretty accurate I recon lol

Probably overfueling like a cnut lol

On a long run my temp sat just above the quarter mark - Digidash it sits the wee blue marker plus 2 yellow markers...

Much better than overheating lol

Could also be the resistor on the sender and the resistor in the guage being incompatible, i had this a few years back and swapped the resistor in the clocks and they worked a lot better, not perfect but worked lol
