would rather retain the 1998cc or de stroke it for another 2600rpm.
Esp in a nova where more torque from an xe is not what you need.

i went in 2006, that lump was on display then
am i correct to assume that thats a C20XE with a bigger block to make it 2.5 cc?
as the C25XE is the pic RJ posted and ws the original cavalier V6 lump
Id imagine its bored out somewhat and strokered to make the rods a shorter throw (if i understand it correctly) and the internal capacity a higher CC:thumb:

ally block bored to 2.5 i think qed do one that i think can go to 2.4
Theres only so far you can bore out a block before you weaken the water jackets and cause internal failiure, iirc on an XE its 2.1, so it has to be strokered i cant remember whether thats lengthening the stroke or shortening it but iirc its shortening it, i know its common on later evo's to get them up higher CC to about 2.3/2.5:thumb:

qed block max is 2.3 bored and stoked so god nows how the got 2.5

i thought it could be bored more than standard
must be a 2.2 8v bottom end bored and stoked to 2.5 thats the only way i can see possible to get it to 2.5
jre made a 1.4 16v for a rally car localy and that makes 180bhp still as a 1.4 on webber carbs they are clever people

£2,300 for just the alloy block? I'll take two please.

Yes and that was a V6 yet clearly the engine pictured is a FOUR cylinder, durrr do try to keep up or are we boring you?
it was sarcasm you goof.
id reckon that 2.5 is a specially cast block. anyone else think 2.5 let???? :D

im thinking whats the point of a 2.5 let when you can easily get over 300 bhp out of a 2.0 for a fraction of the cost and that imo is plenty in a nova
I agree on the 2.2 block to start with, didnt JRE build "Bigruss's" engine few years back?
Anyone know if he still races?
