is the 2.0 turbo conversion worth doing or is it just too fast for the nova, i wont get one any time soon but i'm just interested, i may get one done in like 2 years or something. what is involved in the conversion etc. thanks. mark.

Well worth doing, its hilarious, 0-60 though it will be slower than a lightly tuned valver cause the power delivery isnt as smooth, its a viscous battle trying to pull away, every time you put your foot down it comes on boost and lights up, then you back off and it goes off boost and is slow, then too much boost again etc, once you are moving though its pretty much unbeatable, due to power to weight ratio.

is there any way you could alter that dodgy pulling away, like alter the boost higher? i really want to do this it would be quality.

so chip are you saying if you go the valver route to stay with the 16v and not the turbs?

how much is a LET turbo engine??

seems a better option than a v6 :)

i thnk one of those lsd things might help, anmd electronic mapping, like wot was doen on Mark Watts famous purple 2litre Turbo, the figures for his car were 0-60 in bout 5, and over 155 mph! how true this was i dont know, but i knwo that his car was mapped to ensure smooth turbo delivery, and with o-60 times like that it must hav worked!
prehaps bigger wheels would help??

 You mean fit a chip and a LSD like Mark Watts? MaxPower figures them  . Rick

They are a laff accelerating in a straight line no doubt and the performance is awesome. Not so funny braking into corners from high speed.

As regards reducing wheel spin - 4 things come to mind that I would be interested in trying:

1. An ATB diff
2. Ditching the anti -roll bar and adding the anti- dive tie bar kit
3. Using a programmable ECU with traction control to dump boost or cut ignition in the first 3 gears.
4. Cut slicks

No doubt I will be corrected but I honestly dont see it as a very reliable conversion. The temptation to add more "easy" power is too great and it seems to me that the engine and drive train just aint up to the beating.

I reckon if you are a yoing bloke with one you are very likely to end up with either the engine blown, the gear box rinsed or the whole lot embedded in a tree somewhere and between times spending a lot of time and money keeping it going

400bhp serious? that'd nearly rip the front axle off. lol. or is 204 the figure? I thought 2.0 16v were around 200bhp at default.

2.0 16V is 150bhp standard.

Robs spider has a phase 4 kit fitted and will be running close to if not over 400bhp when its all back together. The let engine has 204 bhp as std i believe or around that. CP i recon its a very reliable conversion when done correctly in the first place e.i. the correct gearbox fitted which is where almost every single person goes wrong, they all shortcut and try running the F20 gearbox which is not up to the job. The F28 is the only way to go and that increases the cost by quite a lot. Rick

definately something i'm gonna do down the line in a spare shell but i imagine its ridiculous as an everyday car?? more just for a bit of fun??? :?

ste_sa said that the 2.0 16v get about 50mpg crusing in 5th

what does the 8v get?

on parkers the 16v and the 8v there is only a 6bhp difference..

Is CP trying to tell me something?

It is silly power.. Before upping the power anymore on mine i'm gonna get a F28 and Quaife ATB which will be expensive but will be a lot better in the long run. Doing that as opposed to just upping the power is a much better option as its just too wheelspin happy at the moment.

It spun up in 5th yesterday coming out of a corner without even trying! :o

Anything more than 250bhp is just silly i think, its just about hey look at how much bhp i have rather than actually being able to drive the soddin car! There wont be much difference in times between a 250 bhp and 350/400bhp i doubt but then again i will probably be proved wrong.

I'm only planning on getting mine to 260/270 ish and ive stuck with 15's too so it still handles "ok" For serious use for throwing round corners i wouldnt consider the let engine though, its far too front end heavy.

i was wondering the same thing, 2.0ltr 16v or LET???

i really want the dump valve sound  8)

is the 16v (non turbo) easy 2 fit??? thinking bout the PVD installation kits, 500 quid, get everything u need except the engine.

put a 1600 in not long a go, but im bored with it already :?

spent over a grand on it, stage 4 head, cam etc.

put that in cose it was my first engine swap, want sumthing that was a straight swap

which is best for easyenese of installation??

2.0ltr 16v or the LET????
