My Granddad has one of those:p
My Granddad has one of those:p
What, with one of these under the bonnet.......
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/spudly01/My%20Car/Veccy.jpg
And SRi written on the side lol
Oh sorry my Granddads is a SRi130.. my uncle has a X reg V6 SRi, bought for the grand sum of £316 off ebay last week, current petrol prices ftw
Bargain, mine played with at the mo and has more to come, and will happily swallow a few mtb's and food and tools for days out in the forests with mates, and still does it looking good and in faaar more comfort than a nova:p
I do like Estates, wish i had one as a 2nd car, i think a saloon boot would swallow a bike or maybe two with the front wheels off
My Granddad got pulled for the first time in his life in his Veccy SRi haha
I'm going to have a go in the uncs V6 next week hopefully, farms ftw
Yeah but ive found with disc brakes when you pull the wheel off they tend to bind a touch as they never seem to line up properly afterwards and sod pulling the calipers off to push the piston back in everytime, so estate means win lol
Theyre not overly fast off the mark but once theyre moving they shift like fook, definately a motorway muncher:thumb:

lol but im 17 and want a nice nova lol, but i need to take mine off the road and get another lol. ps VR6 splitters are ghey.
and RJ yeh thats pretty cool, get some pics of your loon up
Some of the speeds we used to do in my uncles old V6 SRi were silly it shifted and for a car that people say handle awfully it went round the bends too
ps VR6 splitters are ghey.
Err who mentioned VR6 splitters............
Ive not had mine too long but it seems to handle rather well, its lowered a touch too so that should help with the cornering duties:thumb:

spud yours is quite nice isnt it? post up some pics.
i love novas but the prices are just getting silly now, might have to look for an alternatively cheap old cool / fun to drive car. but im sure there isnt another lol

She (Amie) isn't too happy about it, but she knows I will. :thumb:. My current shortlist is either a Nova, a Chevette, a Scimitar GTE or something 7 based.

I hopefully will never have a nova as a road car again! I have 2.5 novas at the moment. Rally car is locked in the shed. Breaking a 1300 sr soon to be scrapped and waiting to here back about getting my old 1200 as a spare shell :) but won't abut of luxury for everyday use ;)

i only miss it for the noise as my astra coupe would kick its ****
I am doing the same with mine, just bought a corsa off the bay, I will run that then do the nova up abit! Then do the corsa up and sell it in summer :D
But Chris, the only difference between mine and yours is the wheels, bumper, skirts, and the cams, the engine is exactly the same but the GSi runs G cams from a 3.0ltr, mine will be having some of those fitted in the not too distant future :p
I want a corsa......A
Dont know why but that really made me lol

MEEEE!! Im looking for a cheap project now ive sold the escort. must be 3 door. if its a distance away needs to have atleast 1 week mot and tax so i can drive it home.
spud, chris' will have had msd cams as its a press car, they changed to using g cams when in production ;)
Nope there was/is no difference in it at all, trust me ive been off a week so ive been doing a lot of reading up of the specs and possible upgrades to mine:p
i remember reading the press release when the gsi was announced, it says that they have msd cams and management and exhaust. in reality they had g cams, an irmy backbox and the rev limit raised by 250rpm. my uncle was an aftersales manager at mount pleasant and had a black one as a company car. still the best vectra imo. :)

ECU and map (i.e. the limit) was exactly the same as that of the SRi, the only difference is the G-spec cams trust me:thumb:

I'm glad I'm without a Nova just now. Grippy handling & VW heaters are a pleasant change from a leaky Nova with poor heating.

Not all of my novas have leaked and they have all had really good heater so i cant understand it when people say their heaters are babba:confused:

Ebay is your best bet. I've modded mine to take different headlamps though as the standard Cibie lamps are rubbish.
Got another one to go on that would suit a Mk2 bumper.
To compare Nova heaters even to Corsa heaters is like comparing...

Dont get me wrong, I've been in Novas with good heaters, but all my Vauxhalls have had crap heating, even my GSi last year with a new matrix & a hard revving Mantzel'd XE wouldnt warm up. As for leaks, no holes but condensation galore!
1st non-Vaux, heaters are burn your face hot. Tidy!
But again mine have always worked really well and ive never been cold in a nova:roll:

GSis start life as SRis, which are then given a thorough working over by MSD (Motor Sport Developments) in Milton Keynes. This involves some pretty tasty kit - in our case 215/45 Yokohama AVS Sports (now standard issue on the Aston Vanquish and Porsche Boxster, incidentally), cool six-spoke 17in OZ alloys, bitier brakepads, thuggish Magnex tailbox, racerish Irmscher spoilers, and inside, hip-hugging Recaro seats, alloy gearknob and a hunky steering wheel with part leather, part shiny plastic rim.
But the heart of this conversion was the extra 24bhp that MSD squeezed out of the 2.5-litre V6, lifting peak power to 192bhp, chiefly by dropping in reprofiled camshafts

i knew it wasnt an irmy box but for some reason had scorpion in my head but magnex will do me just need a centre section and decat pipe, he was wrong because msd never fitted the engine to a saab lol
My my, we have far too many cars now. And the truck. I have the two Novas, and am forced to be content with just two because we have no space left at all for another at the moment. If I were to get another one, it'd be a black mk1 saloon I reckon. However, if the opportunity (a space in the lock-up) arises to get another car, I have my eyes on this tasty mk1 Astra estate. Hopefully we can get the Calibra on the road because my poor Cav SRi has been working so hard recently, it could do with a few wee jobs done sooner rather than later.
You have far too many toys Lynz, its not fair lol

you fail spudders, your quoting evo's roadtest, not the original vauxhall press release, and , like i said there was changes between pre production cars like ernies, and the proper customer cars.
But there wasnt, thats just confirming what ive already said, they were all the same, this has come up on vvoc a lot and ive spent nearly a week browsing V6 related threads, the engine is exactly the same the only difference is the cams which were the 3.0 G spec cams, why would they build a car and spec it up like fcuk then say weve built this specially for the press, the real car will be nothing like this at all?
theyd do it like most manufacturers do, so the press give good reviews. clarkson rubbished the vec b so vaux needed something to change that. it happens all the time.
