fail he wants pics for the cambelt cover not cam cover lol
i dont have pics martin but from memory the bolts are standards 10 mm bolts with a washer and a rubber grommet and the screw into a bobin type thing with a bolt on the end theres 3 of them 2 on block 1 on head and they were all still available from vauchall last year because i bought a full set theres another grommit on the other side of the cover too alternator bracket looks like a 1.2 one different shape though has a rubber bush and has a long 13mm bolt with an earth to the bolt for adjusting tension

i have no pics of what your after but there is a bolt hole kinda between and lower than the cam pulleys. if its like mine it will have a snapped bolt in it
its an early type XE,
and i know there are 3 bolt holes. and one on the top right has a threaded insert in the block. which is present.
what i need to know, is what goes top middle. and what goes bottom left....

all 3 are the same
all 3 are the same
so there should be two more threaded inserts in the block?
i be missing these :( and are there special bolts for the cam cover? with a special size washer?

yup you should have 3 inserts 6 rubber gromet things 1 either side on each hole and 3 washers and blots as i say all were still available from vauxhall last year dont think there a special thread so should be able to find something and the washers are just smaller than the gromets
ok cheers mate, will give them a looky
Is this any good?

yes thanks, it gives me the camblet cover screws that i need :)
but cant really see how the alternator tensioner works....

alternator has 1 bolt through the bottom which it pivots on the further to the ofside on rwd you push the alternetor the tighter the belt just like your 1.2 nova but obviously as nova is fwd its to bulkhead not offside if that makes sence

lol ok i understand how you tighten a alternator!
i just dont understand where the bracket goes. for the "slider"

bolts with 1 13mm bolt into the inlet manifold next to the small water take off for the top bracket and the bottom one just bolts to the block, you running standard inlet manifold ? mind should still be there if running carbs tbs my sbd manifold had them again with the upper bracket for the alternetor there are 2 rubber grommits both brackets are in rjs pic

The tensioner will depend on the engine surely? In a Nova you want an early Astra GTE 16v setup with the PAS belt side removed from the lower pulley, if its from any other car (ie Calibras & Cavs etc) the tensioner is removed & a totally different belt & adjuster is needed.
Just my thinking.

still same bolt hole and was just the pullies and belts that were different same mountings etc
im running the engine on 45's. and its goingin a chevette lol.
is there a bracket liek the smaller engines have for the twin carb bracket?

no no extra bracket you run the standard one some times it needs slight modification to clear carbs but std was fine with my 48s. have you got the inlet manifold yet if not you wont be able to put the alternetor on if you have you will see there are eirher 2 threaded holes or 1 dependent on type of manifold
type 1 with water jacket left hole closest to the end is for alternator bolt other is for water jacket and will need the pipe connector fitting from the xe inlet
type 2 will have just 1 hole for the alternator as no water jacket
also sbd do 2 different angle manifolds dependent on how you are mounting the engine horizontal or 7 degre, which is needed will depend on the angle you mount the engine most use horrizontal but some rally escorts prefer to mount the engine on a 7 deg angle hence the different manifolds
type 1 is the beter manifold imo as gives better cooling
if you have mainfold post pics and i can point it out

right at the side of no1 on the manifold you can just see the hole and thats a none water jacket maifold so imo water will not flow round the head correctly
honestly mate get your manifold and it will be obvious
