I need to rent a room near DE24 for 4 midweek nights, to include heating, broadband and use of the bathroom and kitchen. For up to 9 months (depends on the length of contract)

I'm a Ltd Company Contract Engineer / Business Improvement Consultant.

I had an interview with Rolls Royce Yesterday and the RC said I can expect a 9 month contract by email today.

The problem is that to keep this life Financially Viable I need Digs with access to a kitchen so I don't have to eat out. But also because the contracts with clients have a clear get out clause (they can give a weeks notice) I can't commit to a 6 month tenancy.

My last contract was in Telford and I struck lucky twice. I found a B&B with kitchen facilities for £20 a night and then my wife's Friend offered me a granny flat for £12 a night.

You'll struggle to find anywhere that does rolling month rental until you've come to the end of the first period - almost all of the letting agents in Derby want a minimum of 6 months, a few want a year. Though a bit riskier, a private letting might give you the flexibility.

There's loads of sites in Derby other than Sinfin Lane. Hence the question.

The Learning & Development Centre is on Wilmore Road not the Sinfin Site on Sinfin Lane.

Well it was when i was last there anyway.

No, LDC is on the sinfin site, has been for a while. Its near the mini roundabout, by the test beds... I should have said LDC, sinfin... RR is everywhere in Derby... lol

Still not classed as being part of the Sinfin (Lane) site though.

I know this. At present I can get a reasonable long term rate in a B&B 4 nights a week, but would prefer something where I can cook and have a BBQ.

On a more serious note.
I'll check tomorrow at work to see if they have any known or recommended digs/accomodation for contractors.

I'm sure you're not the first or last person needing somewhere to stay in Derby while working at RR.

Don't ask ! I'll book into a b&b for the first couple of weeks and ask myself when I start.

The PMSL smilie wasn't at you.

It was because someone else assumed so much before you answered my original question.

I'm sure RR have a set up where contractors can lodge in places all over Derby.
I will ask, as when I replied I intended to help you.

Getting boring now.

As already said, yes it's in the part of Derby that's a dump called Sinfin.

However, the Rolls Royce site that is called "Sinfin Lane site" and sites that are in (or in this case near) the Sinfin District are not the same.

Hence why at work Moor Lane is referred to as "Moor Lane" and NOT part of the Sinfin Site (same with the LDC and all of the rest of the sites across Derby)

Also just so you know the address is Moor Lane, ALLENTON, Derby, DE24

Logical Improvement.

I have details for you, i am correct we (Rolls Royce) do have a scheme that you can get a short term rent set up, but it's all done through a company, i'll PM you details and a contact name and number.

It took me a while to find out today as it's not something the business group i work in use. Thankfully the Manufacturing Groups directors PA got on the case for me and sent me all you should need.

Cheers for that. As a Contractor I'm forced to go it alone, but yesterday viewed 2 houses. Talk about sad.
One turned out to be a smoker, and I just couldn't go against my principles. The other turned out to be a knob. I just didn't like the guy.
