i have been told i have been told tha i will hve to mess around with the gears as im going to be runin 5speed f10 instead of mine witch is f10 4speed

any help is grateful :thumb:

sometimes you will have to chop the little plastic lug off from under the gear gaitor to allow it into the "5th" gear position

also your 1.0 fuel tank wont have a return feed , so idealy need to swap tank

change resistor wire (green) to coil for a normal wire

last time I did it I also got the mini loom from battery positive to starter motor so wires were all the correct length etc as different on 1.0

right ..... some times that is lol
And its a carb engine will i still need a return ? :wtf:

do you need a return feed for a 1.4sr as its carbs?

right i think tahst already on egine ill check and the green wire wer does it go to ?

its from the back of the ignition IIrc its a wire with a clear covering i think not 100% sure. dont think the wire with the resistor is green

yes you will still need a return, its onlt the 1.0 that doesnt have one ,

and as said make sure you get the coil and amp and mini loom for the 1400 dizzy setup

and the resistor wire issue , it didnt affect the last carb swap i did , but i had issues when i fitted the 1600 into my 1.0

Riggy

and the resistor wire is the black wire goin to the coil , it drops from 12v when cranking , so there isnt enough power to provide a spark on some engines

so what fuel tank will i need ?
and if the 1.0 doesnt need a return why doe the 1.4

1.2, 1.3, 1.4 carb tank , 1.0 dont need one as there gay :thumb:

also will i have to makefuel lines up etc . . . ?

Riggy

you will need to run another line yes

hmmmm worse tahn i expected ..... i thought carbed engines teh fuel gos in gets burnt and thats it lol no funkin bout wid returns

It really isn't hard to run a return line lol , length of fuel hose and run beside the normal line in the underbody clips.

Riggy

lol its easy , low pressure so rubber lines are fine , so a few quid from the motor factors and your done

Oh and I ran a 1300 sr engine and 1600 carb engine in my old Nova (1.0 originally) and never changed that wire.

so what i said doesnt happen the fuel goes in and gets burnt lol
wtf doe sit have go bk to tank for ?

it must stop the carbs flooding and kick the excess back out.

I'm not sure why, but I know know that 1.2/1.3/1.4 carb etc have a return feed off the carb and therefore need a return line.

im helping him fo the conversion eventually and i didint know that the 1.4s etc didnt have a return where does it come from then off the carb itself? as i havent really had a good look but i havent got one on my xe running bike carbs? and as for the resistor wire that caught me out once we will be running a fresh ign live to the coil and we do ave the mini loom. Thanks for the help

Put a T piece in for the return if you don't want to change the tank, but my 1ltr gets fuel starvation around islands when driving spiritedly so i'd suggest going for a better tank

my saloon started of life as a 1.0ltr, its now sort of a 1.4. as the engine was made for stock rods the carb has been played about with and the return blanked off. if you look at the carb the return pipe is the one that is at the front on the right

Sorry just remembered green wire from 1.0 coil needs taping up and forgetting about - black is resistor wire as mentioned above!

Yeah the return line comes off the carb itself.

Apart from some old mk2 astra 1300/1400/1600 ohc carb engines which didn't have a return off the carb... but there was a little black barrel swirl pot thing that returned fuel to the tank before it even reached the carb.

My old 1300 and 1600 engines had that setup ^^ as they were from old astras/belmonts.

I'd say yours just has the return coming off the carb though.

totally agree even around corners with mine
Cant wait to get a tank with a swirl pot.

does a carb tank have a swirl pot in it?
