Just got myself an 07 2.5 wrx - pick it up today....will be good to pitch it against my Nova once that's out of the body shop.

226 standard so I'll see how that goes and see what mods can be done.

Had to pay tax £405 for a year:eek:

Not with 226 bhp it wont!

But I am assuming that it wont stay that for long!

Will be intersting, never raced an Impreza in the Nova - Think the impreza will hold the road alot better though.

Hmm, my 240-ish bhp GT4 wasn't that much faster than Grant's XE, and thats slightly lighter than the 07 WRX. Except for going round corners lol

road tax sucks my grandad has to pay £215 for a 1.4 petrol kangoo.

400 pounds for tax is nothing, the same car over here would be around 1500euros per annum so count yourselfs lucky

WTF??

My 1700 van is only about £180 a year?

its cause its based on emisions from 2001 onwards and my grandads pumps out just over the lower bracket and it steps up from £175 to £215.

mmm picked it up there, feels about the same as the Nova, corners better though. Only the dry weather will tell;)

Band L and M only apply to cars from March 2006 onwards though. Anything prior to that tops out at band K; hence why some post-2001 cars only pay £215.

meh, I pay £190 for my 3.0 V6 :d

Your going to be doing 40k miles a year in the scooby?

Around those miles - I do get 40p a mile in work as they don't give me a car allowance so more the fool themlol

Jack
11-01-10, 04:19 PM
Only for the first 10k though lol

Wouldn't fancy having to buy insurance to cover 40k a year inc 10k+ worth of business mileage on an Impreza though, let alone the fuel costs, servicing etc - won't that be 4 services a year?!

Ooops is it? I'm working on them giving me car allowance so I'll balance and see what works best for me.

I had to day insure just now as I don't know who I'm currently insured with:confused: and still have 2 months on that policy left. Just over a grand is what I'm getting quoted just now....think It'll costs me 3k a year just to insure, tax and service eek

Jack

I'd be inclined to double that; I worked out the costs of running my GT4 before buying it. After a year of ownership, I doubled the original figures lol (and that was on just 25k!)

:d I'll keep a cost diary for the first 2 months and see what it's costing...

What was costing so much to keep the GT4 going?

Jack

Fuel, mostly lol

Servicing after that, as the fig8s and clutch needed doing.

oh noes....

I found my WRX blobeye to be boring and a poor effort. You may like it mind, the nova will have it. Just learn how to launch the bugger properly and get saving for a clutch once it dies on you.

I still think they are far too heavy for the 225 power fig as std, hope you have funn with it matey but mine was an uber dissapointment.

From my 3 series coupe the WRX rides smoother but with more road noise. It's probably about the same speed as the nova but the WRX grips far better and is far more accurate in the bends.....I can see what folk mean about the fuel £20 quid and 100 miles lol

Your deffo not driving it properly if your getting 100miles to 20quid lol. Best i managed was 300 on a full tank all the way to cornwall at 60mph friggin boring, managed 200 on the way back and cost me about 160quidish in fuel.

I much prefer my evo now over the impreza, just dont try racing things thinking you will beat them as you will cry at the outcome lol.

Aye that would be about right - that's about 20mpg - what bhp is the evo

Story so far - 45 quid 195 miles, 10 quid 40 miles

Doing Glasgow to Newcastle tomorrow so see what that uses :)

Assuming around 107ppl, £45 = 42 litres = around 21mpg.

Yep close enough 1.10 up here. Doesn't seem to matter in you take it easy or go quicker....still returns around 20mpg

My dad found that even if you cain the scooby it did not make a differance to driving as sensible as you can. only a very few mpg like 2 or 3 in the long run....and plenty more fun....
