Hello. Am I the only female Nova devotee on here?
I have a G reg Nova 993cc (White, but basic, bought as project) and put in a Radio cassette player (Goodmans in Argos). I am not that interested in woofers and tweeters etc, just wanted to play my tapes and listen to the radio! I fitted rear parcel shelf brackets with speakers in to have basic "surround sound". I need to know about how to supress radio interference. I have already put a 3 microfarrad supressor on my Delco Remy alternator and a larger aerial to be on the safe side. I have an immobilizer fitted and can have radio on with no key in. When engine is not running it sounds perfect, when running slightly crackly and gets worse the higher the revs therefore assumed it was the alternator. The supressor did not have instructions (I don't want to learn the ins an outs of my car just know that Novas are the best cars ever!) so I fitted it to the warning light wire on alternator (and lost warning light!) then I attached it to the thick white wire/thin red wire bracket on alt. Have I blown the supressor putting it on the wrong wire as the problem is not solved? And, where can I get an ignition coil supressor? What does it look like and how is it fitted? Do you think it is the coil that needs supressing? Has anyone else got this problem?. The radio has an ISO connection and a combined fuse/filter box between the radio and Iso connecter. Is that clear, Have I made any sense? I thank you in advance for your comments, in Idiot English please!.

have you run your speaker wire for your back speakers down the same side of your car as all of the power wires for the lights etc. This will sometimes cause interference when the engine is on.

Hi,

Thanks for that I will have to change the side for the speaker wire because I think I have put them down the same side as the other wiring. I will let ya know the outcome.

Thanks, Linda :o

tried fitting a supressor to the coil?

since kev asked so nicely im popping out of retirement AGAIN!!!

dont suppress the coil you will loose no end of power/performance from the engine.

erm start off by attacthing a wire to the "casing" (the metal work of the radio) and then attacth the other end to a good bit of bare metal on the bodywork (preferably the sortest wire length possible)

im not sure about supressor wiring but at a guess id say that the body of it bolts to the "earth" of the alternator and the otehr end goes to the main output of the alt (not the warning light). that is waht i belive not the proper truth by the way lol. but if i were to do it that would be the way.

wire all 4 speakers up and have fun :)

/me sets mode retired AGAIN
