It's the one thats on ebay, with VX 16v on the top, comes with a fitting kit and throttle body. I havnt used it as i bought it for my sport but the engine went bang before i had the chance to fit it.

^^^ those ones are a very good copy.

i had one and it looked almost identical to Craigs mantzel.

good quality and thick metal, unlike some copies, there on the bay for 180 new.

Another note bout the power box above, they won't fit on a c16xe inlet, only x16.

Thats an x16xe IIRC the C16XE has different size holes where the top manifold goes on it think.

Thats a x14/16xe inlet you have.

A c16xe one has a different fitment to the upper inlet(it has like 4 oval cup things on top of the inlet) instead of a flat gasket face.

Count-If the inlet box is for your turbo'd engine you might have to be careful that the box holds boost pressure!! The copy boxes may well leak because the bolt holes are a part of the inlet.... if you get me. The bolts on a mantzel go through "channels" cast in the box,so they cant leak air...

Not sure if you'll get what i mean though lol

do you think you would have the same problem with a genuine manzle box ???

Adam
10-01-10, 11:21 PM
No the genuine mantzels work fine.

A copy box would probably be fine too if you made sure somehow you had a good air tight seal around the bolt heads (thick fibre washers or something)

idealy you want the inlet on the other side aswel, its going to be a mash of pipe work down the bottom corner if not lol

Understand exactly adam and i'm glad you turned up and shed some light on this, i was thinking for the turbo and i see what you mean but i was thinking i might weld it to the inlet instead of bolting it on and just weld the holes up. I may start from scratch yet it depends what works out best/cheapest.
A mantzel would be easier but the cheapest i can find is £350

Yes mate, something welded directly to the inlet would be a much better option.
Depends how much work you want to put into it, as a "proper" turbo inlet plenum will have ram pipes going down into the runners etc....

YOu dont usually see mantzels for much less than that tbh....

Thats the advantage of running a custom exhaust/turbo set up as you can decide which side the intake to the turbo sits on, i can have my intake on the right and the boost pipe up the left were the standard inlet sits if i use a custom exhaust and turbo

Is a VXR inlet not in two pieces???
Pretty sure it bolts onto a flange thing, which then bolts onto the head. So that might just be one part of the inlet????

Count Vaux Alot
12-01-10, 08:16 PM
it looks one piece to me??

You might be lucky and find your rail etc fits....
