Plug
09-01-10, 02:28 PM
because people make replicas

stroutsy
09-01-10, 02:29 PM
even when its stated as 1.4? :S

Jack
09-01-10, 02:29 PM
I can understand it if its a replica, with everything swapped up to GSi spec.

If not.. then yeah, its daft. I wonder how many people thought the same thing about my 24v badge on the saloon lol

dave watson
09-01-10, 02:29 PM
because it might be a gsi replica

so what if it did start as i 1.4, next year it might be an xe?

Replicas are a way for people who cant afford to buy/ run the real thing.

Replicas ftw mines one lol

even if the car was orignally a 1l and someone has either reshelled a gsi into it or bought the bits to make it the same as a gsi why not put the gsi stickers on it.

dave watson
09-01-10, 02:36 PM
mine will never be one because they didnt make a miami blue gsi to my nollage

CoolTiger
09-01-10, 02:38 PM
same goes with reshelld sports, with sport decals ?

the one that gets me is when people do a full gsi replica with stickers and theres no sunroof or its originaly a mk1 reg.

Balley
09-01-10, 02:43 PM
TBH as long as it has a GSi kit on and maybe an interior and engine who cares what they badge it as,

If its a replica then you not going to badge it as a 1.2 merit plus are you ?!

its the same reason that women buy wonderbras...... its to try & make what little they have look bigger & better

Mazz

lol ^

If they made a 1.2L into a GSI spec then imo thats fine, eg Riggys - you'd never know it didn't start life as a GSI
But slapped a GSI on a standard 1.0 is pointless..

vaughanmc
09-01-10, 06:01 PM
Not into replica's myself either

Fair enough have it looking like a GSi (bumpers, skirts, interior etc) but don't badge it as a GSi when it's only a 1200 lol

It's hardly the same to be honest

I have a GSi sticker on my boot, if i said i put it on because i think it finishes off the rear end of my car off would that be ok with you? Or would you like me to take MY sticker off MY car because it doesnt please you? :wtf:

:)

Jack
09-01-10, 06:14 PM
Its almost like the shopping lists down the side of the car for products that don't actually feature on said vehicle. I made a point of putting TRD brakes on my Celica before I fitted the badge on the nose grill lol

The number of bog standard Vauxhalls I've seen with Irmscher badges on them... :tard:

lack of turret top plates and sunroof give the game away.

I'm really not a fan of replicas either.

None of the three Nova's I've owned with tilt/slide sunroofs have ever leaked. Think you are mistaken with the retro fit tilt only ones.

SRimon

My old blue XE was stickered as a GSi, but then a bit like Riggy's the only thing that wasn't GSi on it was the strut tops - or lack of.

stevie78
09-01-10, 06:59 PM

vaughanmc
09-01-10, 07:04 PM

It also didn't have electric windows as well

My partial GSi rep.... whats the problem?

I like the looks of a GSi. I'm not in a position to buy a real GSi. Therefore I create this.

:wtf:

electric windows wernt standard on the gte i had one with windy windows door cards are still in the garage lol

Jack
09-01-10, 10:42 PM
I thought E/W were options on both GTE and GSi? Hence some GSi doorcards having holes for keep fit winders?

correct. I sold some gsi door cards a while back with holes for winders.

vaughanmc

They all come with the hole in the back of the card bit though ? Just not through the material

Lee H

E/W standard on GSi's, its people building replicas that butcher the cards to fit winders.

One of my biggest pet hates!

E/w arnt hard to fit to any Nova, holes should never be made!

i dont see a problem with it aslong as it does look like a gsi and not just a standard 1.2 with the stickers on

although i nearly did the same on my sri but decided to get some sri stickers made up in gsi styling

what he said - I kitted my merit out as a GSI inc E/W's - but the trim was grey with greay door top caps rather than black.

Oh - and for those that dont know we do GTE/GSi badges in the club shop!

I agree dude, Ive done a similar thing with my DERV, skirts, painted bumpers and black interior etc... I would not badge mine as a GSi as it is not a petrol but if it was I most probably would !

What about GSTDi, GTDi, SXTDi! Would be comical for me any way lol

AlexW
10-01-10, 10:28 AM
If you kept the bonnet shut on a lot of the replica's then you would never know it wasnt a GSi. Mine fooled some people with just the grill badge lol even had the pov spec bumper on... Chavs.

RJ - some irmy bits are on some "boggo standard" cars, my tigra has irmy spoiler and that was from factory.

I meant bog std with no Irmscher parts on

BTW, whats the official line on what GSi stands for? Grand Sport Injection? Hrrm lol
