I wouldnt of advised putting them on in these road conditions, or at least remember to wash them daily.

Nope the 2.2 is bullet proof, chain timed and bigger.
The 1.8 can be a pain in the **** with known issues. (flooding etc)
Yes the 1.8 is good, the 2.2 is very good.
I'd swap mine for a 2.2 (i have a 1.8).

iv seen more 2.2 in for engine changes due to the chain letting go on them then 1.8's
and mine if im honest is running like a dog atm were its not being driven i think
but not to sure it came up with a air intake temperature problem when we plugged it in at mates garage so changed the afm and still has a lumpy idle sometimes and cuts out just trying to figure out what it is
That's because the 2.2 had oil feed issues to the chain, and was recalled. Not all got done.

Yes it is an Astra 888, poss the lowest mileage and most original example left. And no you can't have it
MK4, on 18's and probably soon to be "wrong" suspension... ohh thats gonna handle really badly :(

You don't need to race, just one (won, 1, juan) corner/swerve (that you think the car would cope with).
Not worth the risk.

well to be fair there is probably loads of people on this site and many more sites with out the right specified suspension for there vehicle and iv never seen a 'oh no iv crashed my car due to a set of springs' thread
so im going to try them see how it is if they feel jerky or not right il wack them off and buy another proper set simple as that boys and girls :thumb:

no, but I;ve seen lots of threads about where people have fitted kits to MK4's and then bitched about the handling...
Although fathobbit fitted some GAZ stuff and it worked a treat :)
Mrs Hobbits mk4 astra handled so great I didn't want to funk things up with cheap springs (let alone wrong ones) GAZ ftw. Needs properly setting up but it still feels like its on rails :)
Mine handles fine on the standard set up.
As for the 2.2 they only play up if you dont look after them with regular oil change's.
It would kick ass on the ****ty 1.8 aswell.
I was trying to help you out as i have a coupe aswell but with a hole £3.95 spring set up going on i now just think your a knob aswell.
fool.
Yeah it's amazing what response you get when your trying to help someone.
I'm running Eibach -30mm springs on my Hatch and 18" rims.
Handle's perfectly tight, but then they were made for a Astra with the axle weight of my car.

Don't like to try and be too negative when people have spent good money and done something to their tastes, but not keen on the wheels. The car is tidy though.
